Having booked the hotel for 4 days we booked evening meal for first night and breakfast every day. The table was not set for first 2 visits then on the 3rd empty tables were pushed together and laid for 8 when we arrived. We were then TOLD that although having booked we would have to sit in bar as people were due in LATER to sit at that table. I then asked to see manager who told me that they tried to accommodate everyone. Apart from us evidently!!! We sat in resteraunt having refused to sit in bar but not particularly happy with attitude of the staff. Will return to hotel as mostly very good shame it was marred by this incident

I feel the need to put this on here due to me not being happy and bitterly disappointed with the food on this trip. I stayed in the SHAP hotel in Cumbria, Lake District. On the hotels website it states there is a home cooked meal however, I do not believe this being the case, or if they were they were very poor quality. One evening I had the roast pork dinner. The pork appeared to be something similar to a packet that appeared to be sliced similar to that you would put in a sandwich, to call it a roast is not true. It continued being bad the whole time I was staying there. The pots of tea were in a separate room and was stored in a flask, and so, was cold. Upon further searching it appears the hotel is currently up for sale, and at the time only had 16 members of staff instead of 40+. I feel as though this was a lot of money for what it was as was not as advertised on leaflet. If you are going to stay there for the idea of good food, I would recommend cancelling as it is not how they say it is. Also, if so do go and feel the need to complain you will need to do it when you are there. I have tried to call and complain and they guy on the phone was extremely rude and didn’t seem to care at all. Despite all of this the staff were extremely polite and helpful. I am putting this on purely to stop people from being disappointed by this hotel and to save money. Thank you I hope this will help people make a decision on going to this hotel.

Best hotel I've stayed in for a long time. Beautiful accommodation, room was spacious, had everything you could need and had a wonderful view. The food was delicious in the evening and at breakfast. The staff were wonderful, so helpful and friendly. The spa facilities were excellent and although I didn't use the gym it looked a good facility too. Definitely want to come back again.
