Bay Palace Mazzarò

The hotel is located in a quiet seaside setting with convenient transportation. While the hotel facilities are somewhat old-fashioned, they have a strong cultural atmosphere, and the staff are very welcoming. Breakfast and dinner are provided at the hotel.

The staff Nicoletta and Claudia were very hospitable and professional, we had a great stay.

The hotel was nice, I'd give it a good review. The staff were very friendly and answered all my questions patiently and attentively. The entire hotel is clearly an old building, probably over a hundred years old or even several decades old, with a strong sense of history and tradition. Breakfast at €10 is quite good value, with several cakes to choose from. Actually, for people getting to Taormina bus station, the most convenient way is to take the cable car down the mountain and walk. However, I didn't know that on my first visit. Seeing on the map that it was only 1.5 kilometers, I stupidly followed Google Maps and ended up carrying my suitcase down a steep drop of several tens of meters... It was too dangerous, terrifying, and especially since it was almost evening and getting dark, it was very risky. I strongly advise everyone not to choose walking. It may seem shorter, but the altitude difference from the top to the bottom is huge, ridiculously low.

It's alright, neither good nor bad.

The hotel is not 4 stars. When it opened, maybe it had these stars for the 90s, but since then, apparently, no repairs have been done. The location is not the best - 15 minutes walk to Isola Bella along the side of the road, 10 minutes to the funicular. If you leave the hotel to the left, you can walk to the sandy beach, there are many times fewer people there! There is also a staircase to the city, not as well-maintained as from Isola Bella, but close by. The breakfasts are meager - for 4 * very modest. The service is excellent, everyone is happy, everyone is smiling. Those who have a car - parking is a problem, the hotel has 5 parking spaces, there is no parking on the road. If you are lucky with the room, then a gorgeous view of the sea! We had a Deluxe, 3rd floor, right there is an exit to the pool, very convenient. The pool itself is small. By the way, the hotel is in the shade after 12 noon, so you can't sunbathe by the pool. It was more advantageous in terms of price, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
