From the Moon to Mars
Location and food are great, but the hotel itself is a big "No" for me. I’m giving it 3 points solely for the location and nearby food. Honestly, without those, it would’ve been 1 point.
The Good Parts:
The location is actually perfect. It’s a very easy 6-minute walk to the nearest MRT, and being so close to Qingguang Night Market is a big plus for street food lovers. Also, a big shoutout to the 30-year-old Huang Ji Braised Pork Rice right downstairs — it’s absolutely delicious and a must-try! My room also had a nice view of the park, the fridge was a decent size, and the staff was friendly enough.
Reasons I won’t return:
The room experience was... bad, and the price was not reasonable.
• Hygiene was poor: We found two cockroaches in just two days (my boyfriend had to catch them himself!). When we told the staff, all we got was a casual “Oh, sorry.” No follow-up, nothing.
• Maintenance is basically non-existent: There was mold all over the walls and curtains, plus stains and holes everywhere. The bed frame was even broken before we touched it! Unfortunately, I only saw similar reviews from other visitors after checkout, while some reviews did not seem so bad. I guess the problem only occurred in the double room with a garden view, where I stayed.
• Smell & Comfort: Every time I took a shower, a nasty sewage smell came up from the drains. The AC was also extremely loud—you could hear it from the hallway outside.
• Service & Amenities: We stayed 6 days and had no room service. We had to take out our own trash and change our own towels. Plus, the shower gel smelled exactly like cheap washing powder.
• Tech issues: The Wi-Fi is very unstable. It’s supposed to be "private" per room, but it kept cutting out from evening until midnight, which was very frustrating.
Anw: This hotel is great for foodies who need a place to crash, but if you care about cleanliness, fresh air, or Wi-Fi at night, you should look elsewhere or avoid booking the same room we stayed in.
