They want the hotel to have a house party vibe rather than a formal hotel style. However, it would have been useful to have a way of making our presence known when we arrived rather than having to go in search of a member of staff. Once found the staff member was friendly, informative and charming, happy to give us a tour of the building, explaining the reasons behind the quirky decor. Rooms are decorated with the brand in mind, a torch burnt dresser represented the whisky barrels but touch it and the charcoal comes off on your hand. (Why no matt varnish to make it clean and durable?) . Some elements of the decor are fabulous but occasionally let down by inconsequential imagery. Our bedroom was bright and highly patterned, lots of floral wallpaper and soft furnishings. Very comfortable beds, good straightforward bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries. There was a kettle and tea bags in the room but no easy place to plug in the kettle and coffee had to be made in a cupboard in the corridor where there was a Nespresso machine with a great selection of coffee pods along with biscuit/oat bars. Dinner was preceded by all dinner guests gathering in the sitting room for canapés and drinks. ( in fact it was one canapé of shreds of beef cheek on a spoon). We were called through to the dining room ( great table and lighting, tacky art) for a four course tasting menu. No choice unless there were food allergies. the starter was parsnip and apple risotto, then salmon and quinoa followed by pork belly which we were told had been cooked for 5 days, a sticky piece of pork loin and a potato fondant. Dessert was the best course - mango brûlée and apple and basil sorbet ( yes, 2 of the 4 course featured apple). The meal was average, not very hot and under seasoned. Breakfast was served in another dining hall, coffee served in a large pouring thermos, juices incorrectly labelled which led to us pouring pineapple juice thinking it was apple. The Scottish breakfast was not great, my husband thought the sausage poor and the blend of haggis and black pudding was so yucky he couldn’t eat it. On our way out of the dining room we saw a table with cheeses and charcuterie but nobody had told us it was there and it wasn’t obvious. Overall there was a sense of style over substance.

Hotel was opulent in decor. The 5 course a la carte evening meal was stunning, as was breakfast. Rooms were decorated to extremely high standard. Staff (David & Amy) were extremely friendly & knowledgeable in the history of glenmorangie whiskies. We were spoiled both nights we stayed with excellent company of other guests around an open fire on comfy sofas. Wonderful selection of Glenmorangie whiskies available, topped off with a complimentary tour of the distillery. Its a must if you like your whisky.

What an authentic Scottish Highlands experience! The Glenmorangie House is a unique slice of heaven set far away from the big towns. We were here to golf at Royal Dornoch. The location seems remote but that is what was so special about it. Dinner each night is served with the rest of the guests. You get a true old fashioned houseparty feel. At dinner we were piped in with bagpipes and had a formal address of the haggis. The Gleorangie whiskey flows and the entire staff is so knowledgeable. The rooms are each uniquely decorated. Everything was so clean and comfortable. And did I mention the food? Each night was a four course authentic Scottish meal, beautifully presented and plated. Amy was a delightful hostess throughout our stay. This was a once in a lifetime experience. There are no televisions in the rooms so it is a perfect place to disconnect and explore the beauty of the surrounding area. I highly recommend!

Beautiful house and lovely location. Cottages are very dog friendly - bed, bowls, treats and toys provided! Amazing food and ambience. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Giraffe theme was a quirky touch.

We stayed here twice on our holiday and on both occasions the accommodation was fantastic, the ambiance was chilled, relaxed and welcoming. From Findlay and Amy on FOH greeting you on arrival, the rooms were excellent - themed but with lots of quirky touches which drew your attention and made you smile (think Giraffes)! The food - wow! Our breakfast was great, with highlight being the omelette, so good! Dinner was on a different level and having the chef, Douglas, introduce himself and the dessert was great touch. This is a young guy with skills and he is a great asset for the company! I would thoroughly recommend staying here (it even has pet-friendly cottages to stay in when travelling with your furry friends)!

Wonderful hotel with fantastic staff. Like staying with friends. Dining is excellent and Duncan will amaze you with his piping skills and knowledge of Burns. Beautiful grounds. If you like tranquil, peaceful locations this is it. The walk down to Cadboll beach through the avenue of trees is particularly beautiful. Might be a little remote for some but as good a country house experience I think you can have in Scotland.

Beautiful , quirky hotel. Staff could not do enough for us. Took time to chat and answer any questions. Outside seating areas and Gardens are beautiful. Everything is so well thought out and designed. Interesting dynamics of everyone dining together . Food was absolutely amazing. Beautiful grounds and walks. Will definitely go back .
