I recently spent two nights at The Metro Hotel (豪爵大飯店台中館) in Taichung, and overall, it was a very practical, comfortable, and well-situated experience. Located right on Wuquan Road in the West District, this 3.5-star property strikes an excellent balance between affordability and convenience. If you are looking for a reliable base to explore the city, here is a detailed breakdown of my stay.  The room was spacious, exceptionally clean, and featured a nice view of the surrounding city. The bed was on the firmer side but very supportive, providing a great night's sleep after long days of walking. A major highlight for me was the climate control. I absolutely need a cool sleeping environment and always set the thermostat to 21°C; thankfully, the room’s air conditioning was powerful and maintained that crisp, chilly temperature perfectly throughout both nights.  There are two minor caveats to the room: • Electrical Outlets: There are very few power outlets available. If you have multiple devices to charge (phone, laptop, power banks), I highly recommend bringing a small travel extension cord.  • Soundproofing: While the room itself was peaceful, the door soundproofing is a bit lacking. You can occasionally hear other guests in the hallway or neighboring doors closing.  The hotel provides all the essential basics without overcomplicating things. The bathroom was roomy with great water pressure and came stocked with standard toiletries. A huge plus for travelers is the self-service laundry room located on the 5th floor. The front desk staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful with luggage storage. It is worth noting that they strictly enforce their 4:00 PM check-in time—you generally cannot get into your room a minute earlier—but they do offer a generous 12:00 PM check-out, allowing for a relaxed morning.

First time in Taiwan, and there weren't many hotel options in Taichung, most of them being quite old. This hotel's service was decent. The room was a bit dated, but the location was good, right next to a shopping mall and across from a Japanese Sogo department store. There's also a bar on the hotel's registration floor, which was nice.

The Place is a great find in Taichung. Clean, modern, with fantastic service and staff who go above and beyond. Rooms are spacious and clean, and have everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast is so-so. Delivery is possible, and there’s a park and museum right across the street. Easy walk to Calligraphy Greenway. Recommend for a short Taichung stay!

My overall review of this hotel is that the hardware facilities are perfect, but everything else is mediocre. In short, the pros and cons feel very disconnected. Details below: **Pros:** 1. As it's a new hotel, the hardware facilities are very modern. The style is industrial minimalist with warm wooden furniture – a TV and a bed create a sturdy yet warm overall feel. I particularly liked the space in front of the bed, which was convenient for placing and organizing luggage. 2. Regarding the toilet and bathroom, the toilet is smart, equipped with an LED smart mirror. The overall look is clean and hygienic. 3. My favorite aspect was how comfortable the pillows, mattress, and duvet were – truly recommended! The large bed came with two firm and two soft pillows. Both types provided excellent support, making them very suitable for people with neck and shoulder pain. Although the mattress was firm, it offered great body support. However, the accompanying drawbacks were also very noticeable: 1. The entrance door wasn't clearly marked as an automatic door. For some reason, it had 'Entrance' written on it with an arrow pointing left, making it hard to realize it was an automatic door at first. Its concrete color also easily misled guests. 2. The check-in process felt a bit old-fashioned or outdated. Usually, isn't showing your passport enough to check in? The staff member directly asked for my booking number. Also, because Mandarin isn't my native language, when I didn't quite understand a description and asked the staff to repeat it, there was a moment of awkward silence. Later, when I went for breakfast, I gave my room number to the staff, who then picked up a list of guests to search. If they didn't understand, they could have just asked me to repeat it. Are their service guidelines so strict that they can't ask guests anything? Furthermore, the hotel had sent a message requesting my Chinese name to expedite the process, but I noticed the hotel's information still hadn't been updated. Was providing it even necessary then? 3. Another issue was the relatively small and narrow bathroom space. The smart toilet would open automatically when you walked past it, which sometimes felt really annoying. You couldn't place clothes or other items directly on it; they had to go on the towel rack above. However, the rack had gaps, so small items could easily fall through. I had to use a towel to cover it. The washbasin was also very small, only big enough for two mouthwash cups; anything else would fall off. As for the shower area, it would be just right for children or women of standard build, but it felt quite cramped for men or larger individuals. All in all, it's still a new hotel and has value worth visiting, but what happens later remains to be seen.

It's an older hotel, but it still maintains a grand and impressive feel. While the interior facilities are a bit dated, the air conditioning works comfortably, and the hygiene is perfectly fine. The toilets are even modern, with bidet functions, which is a nice touch. The only downside is the government's eco-friendly policy preventing hotels from providing amenities, but that's a government issue, not the hotel's fault. The breakfast is decent – not luxurious, but it matches the price for a one-night stay and you can certainly eat your fill. I'd consider staying here again if the opportunity arises.

The hotel is very easy to find. If you check in late, there's a self-service check-in machine at the entrance, so don't worry about staff not being able to process your check-in. There's a parking lot nearby, as well as street parking spaces. The rooms are small but very clean and tidy. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, and they use Cha Zi Tang toiletries. 👍👍👍

The room wasn't huge, but it was very quiet, tucked away in an alley. Parking wasn't an issue though; there was mobile parking right at the entrance, and the hotel also provided information on nearby paid parking lots. I had a great night's sleep; the bed was really comfortable and the pillows were excellent. The air conditioning was perfectly cold. We also received a welcome drink voucher that we could use at the front desk for drinks and snacks. After checking out, we realized we'd left our power bank and charging cable behind. To our surprise, the hotel proactively called us to ask if we wanted them to hold onto it. Since we don't live in Taichung, they even helped us ship it home via Black Cat Express, and we received it the very next morning, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. This is truly a thoughtful and wonderful hotel! Definitely my top choice for staying in Taichung.

Location: The hotel entrance is on Meicun Road, but the taxi driver, using the hotel's address, parked at the intersection of Xiangshangbei Road and Meicun Road. We waited for over three minutes before realizing it! Eating: Across from the hotel, on Xiangshangbei Road, there's a small night market on Zhongmei Street, but it felt run-down and chaotic. After browsing, I didn't find anything particularly delicious. I checked reviews and found Taizu Lamb and Fish Restaurant, but it was too salty and not as good as what I've had in Taipei! Xiangshang Douhua (tofu pudding) wasn't as good as those in Meicun or Qingguang. There's also a Michelin-starred restaurant nearby serving pork knuckle, but after queuing and eating there, I felt the taste was overrated, and I was so sweaty that I had no desire to go back! The hotel agreed to let the delivery guy bring it upstairs, saving me the trouble of picking it up myself! Parking: I thought there was parking on Dianping (a Chinese review platform), but when I arrived, the front desk informed me that they no longer provide parking. Even when there were spaces available, it was very difficult to find one in advance, so those driving should be aware of this to avoid the hassle of dragging luggage. Don't be misled by Dianping! Bed: The bed was of medium firmness, but the pillows were too soft and flat for us to sleep well. We wanted to add more pillows to elevate the bed, but we were told there would be an extra charge. In the end, we had to use a large bath towel folded several times to prop it up! Room Amenities: The mini-fridge had an icebox, which was good for chilling leftover popsicles from the kids. The toilet had a smart toilet seat, thankfully a bit bigger than the ones at Hongqiao Airport that are practically miniature! Soundproofing: The shower water pressure was strong, but the resonance noise was also loud. Avoid showering too late as it will disturb others! Cleanliness: I don't know if it's the sewer or the air conditioning, but sometimes the room smelled bad. Although there was a window, it couldn't be opened, so there was no ventilation! Service: The male staff member on the night shift was impatient with our overseas call to confirm our booking and even argued with us. We wanted to cancel, but it was too late! The lobby didn't even have a place for guests to sit and wait for taxis, which felt very basic compared to other hotels! Disposable slippers weren't provided; you had to bring your own or buy them at the counter! Wi-Fi: Worried about slow internet speeds in this older hotel, I rented a Wi-Fi hotspot beforehand. The TVs here probably don't support automatic screen mirroring, so you'll need to bring your own. Room Size: Probably proportional to the price. These business hotels tend to be smaller, older, and more expensive than in mainland China, but they have luggage racks, so you don't have to put your suitcase on the floor. Value for Money: Compared to mainland budget chain hotels like Home Inn and Hanting, prices in Taiwan are higher, and fluctuations can be more than double! The decor and facilities might also be less modern, especially in older hotels like this. However, compared to the Yongfeng Inn I stayed at the previous night, this one is closer to the Qinmei shopping district, so convenience is the main reason for choosing this option!

The room size was standard, with enough space to comfortably open a suitcase. It had a shower but no bathtub. The cleaning was thorough, and the room was spotless. There were very few amenities provided; toothbrushes and other items could be purchased at the check-in counter, but I'd recommend bringing your own.

The hotel room was very spacious, incredibly clean, and well-lit, giving a great overall impression. Although the bathroom didn't have a bathtub, the shower head could be set to a mist spray, which was very comfortable, and the water temperature was stable. Plus, the toilet was Japanese-style. The TV could play YouTube and Netflix, which was a big plus! The Wi-Fi was also stable, and there was a complimentary minibar. The only downside was that the hotel was a bit far from public transport, which might be inconvenient if you don't have a car.

This hotel is right in the city center, conveniently located next to an art museum, a shopping mall, and a large Eslite Bookstore. Getting around is super easy, and there are plenty of options for dining and shopping. Plus, there's a market in the park right outside the hotel, which is quite interesting. Definitely my top choice when visiting Taichung!

The hotel's thoughtfulness is evident everywhere, from the amenities and breakfast spread to the snack bar and essential oil diffusers in the lobby, and the friendly staff. Right next to the hotel, I found a florist, a hair salon, and some great restaurants, all of which I needed. The 'bottle screen' display wall outside our room was a really fun touch. The book collection displayed in the stairwell library was also excellent. Furthermore, my family and I participated in a metalwork DIY experience at a nearby partner shop this time, and we were thoroughly impressed! The overall atmosphere of the hotel was incredibly relaxing and comfortable. Most importantly, the soundproofing in our room (we stayed in room 205) was excellent; we didn't hear any noise at all. The only minor drawback is that the hotel doesn't participate in the 'High-Speed Rail Holiday' package, so they couldn't offer any discounts on high-speed rail tickets.

First time booking accommodation and I found this place to be really great! The six-person room has a projector and a small table with a sofa where we could all sit together and watch movies, which was very cozy. The bathroom has two separate areas for showering simultaneously, with a wet and dry separation. The room itself is very spacious, and the front desk and housekeeping staff all have excellent attitudes.

Overall, it was good, but this time the room had a lot of mosquitoes. The windows weren't opened during my stay, so they were probably already in the room. There was an electric mosquito repellent in the room, but it wasn't very effective.

My stay today was surprisingly amazing! The room was really spacious, neat, and clean, giving off a bit of an airplane cabin vibe. The hotel is located in a prime area of Taichung, surrounded by many department stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. I was truly impressed during my visit to Taichung this time. I'll definitely be back if I have the chance!

Stayed here for another three nights this time. I'm a returning guest, having stayed a few times before, and honestly, I'm too lazy to explore other options. The bunk beds in the room are sturdy, the air conditioning is powerful, and the privacy is excellent. The locker is quite large and comes with a key. The water pressure in the bathroom is strong, and there's a balcony where you can hang towels. The reception and common area are very spacious, offering a simple breakfast, an honesty shop, and coin-operated washing machines. Do note that the front desk service is not 24/7. Since the staff are usually busy with their work, if you're looking for more social interaction, you might have to take the initiative to strike up a conversation yourself. There's a rooftop available for use, but it doesn't seem like many people use it.

Overall, my stay was quite pleasant. The hotel's location is really convenient, with easy access to transportation and plenty of amenities nearby. The staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The room was clean and tidy, and all the essential facilities were well-maintained. The only minor downside was the limited food selection; breakfast wasn't very varied, though the taste was acceptable. Generally, aside from the slightly lacking dining options, the service quality, environment, and location were all consistently good. It was a rather enjoyable experience.

This was my first time staying in a guesthouse on the 18th floor. Looking out the window, all the other buildings looked so low, and I could see the entire edge of the city and the vast sky. I don't have this kind of environment in Hong Kong; it was truly breathtaking. I opened the window every day to look out. The room was spacious, and the host was very easy to talk to; it felt like staying at a friend's house. It was opposite SOGO, with lots of restaurants. We stayed for 13 days and still couldn't try everything. I didn't want to leave.
