Perfectly acceptable accommodations in Swakop. I would especially recommend it for families as they have a 3 bedroom option. We had breakfast only 1 of the days and it was pretty good, very friendly service. Only downsides are that the soundproofing is non-existent and the breakfast did not open on time one morning making for a hungry bunch before our tour. For couples, I'd probably recommend elsewhere, for families I'd certainly consider it.

I booked the one bedroom apartment, as I thought the studio might be small. Unlikely, as my apartment was massive and I slept on the mezzanine level. The weather wasn't great when I was there, and the mezzanine was much warmer than downstairs regardless of whether the heating was on or not.
Apartment was lovely, and clean, with a very well-equipped kitchen.
Ladies on reception were delightful and always willing to help.
Only negatives I have is that there is no lift (and fairly narrow staircases) and no staff around once reception closes. I was slightly concerned that if I had a problem with my key that I wouldn't be able to access the complex after 8.30/9pm.

My husband and I stayed here twice with two different groups in April and May. We had had to cancel our visit twice because of covid and the staff were always helpful. Everyone was more than helpful. Our apartments were very clean and comfortable. The English breakfast was cooked on arrival and therefore tasted delicious. The reception staff were so kind and gave us good restaurant tipps. Das Desert Sands Boutique ist für uns jeweils die ideale Unterkunft, wenn wir mit Gästen in Swakopmund sind. Die Zimmer sind sehr grosszügig, kleine Malzeiten können in der kleinen Küche zubereitet werden. Die Geschäfte Swakopmunds und viele Restaurants können zu Fuss erreicht werden.

Nos alojamos en este hotel por casualidad, ya que ese día nos tuvimos que alojar en Swakopmund debido a que teníamos una avería en el coche y no podemos seguir con nuestro camino. Los dueños fueron muy amables y atentos en todo momento, incluso nos acompañó a buscar la cena para llevar, ya que cerraban en breve y así no nos quedábamos sin cenar. La señora que servía el desayuno hablaba un poco de español y fue también muy amable con nosotros. La habitación es grande y muy cómoda para pasar varias noches incluso. ¡Gracias a todo el personal de Hotel Desert Sands por ser un rayo de luz en un mal día!

Wij hadden een appartement met twee slaapkamers geboekt voor ons vieren. Het was ruim, licht en modern ingericht. Beneden een aparte slaapkamer met (smal) tweepersoonsbed en badkamer, boven op de mezzanine de t****e slaapkamer met (ruimer) tweepersoonsbed en aparte badkamer. Minpunt was wel dat we bij het boeken een slaapkamer met twee eenpersoonsbedden gevraagd hadden, en dat hebben we dus niet gekregen. Het bed beneden was vrij klein. Er was een volledig ingericht keukenblok, waar we weliswaar geen gebruik van gemaakt hebben, behalve van de ijskast. Het ontbijt was heel verzorgd en uitgebreid, zeker een aanrader om bij te boeken. Een speciale vermelding voor het supervriendelijke personeel, met vooral een dikke dankjewel aan Grace, die ons elke dag met een brede glimlach verwelkomde! De ligging van deze accommodatie is ook erg gunstig: op wandelafstand van het strand en restaurants, rustig gelegen. Je auto kan je parkeren op de beveiligde parking.
