The location is fantastic! Right outside, you'll find Pingjiang Road Historical Block and Guanqian Street. The hotel itself is the former residence of Pan Yifen, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. There's even a tea ceremony table, and the breakfast is plentiful, delivered to your room on demand. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Suzhou.

The courtyard boasts a unique and elegant charm, with every detail exuding the essence of Suzhou culture. The environment is truly impressive. The staff are professional and friendly, providing thoughtful and attentive service. All facilities are well-maintained and functional, with a very practical and user-friendly layout. The cleanliness is meticulously done, and the overall impression is neat and tidy. I would definitely come back given the chance.

Nicely located hotel with old Chinese style rooms. It was a nice experience to stay there. The location was perfect since everything we needed was in walking distance.

The hotel is located right next to Pingjiang Road, which means getting there by taxi can be quite inconvenient, especially on weekends. However, for exploring and visiting Suzhou's most famous attractions and sights, the location is absolutely superb. The staff at the hotel are incredibly attentive. Upon check-in, they'll add you on WeChat and provide a lot of guidance, as well as introducing the room and the small courtyard. It's a historical relic that's hundreds of years old, later renovated, and very comfortable to stay in. Enjoying breakfast in the courtyard is just delightful! One thing to note is that you'll likely be sharing a living room with other guests, so you need to be mindful at night not to disturb their rest, which might make it feel a little less private. The complimentary fruit in the room was delicious, and they even gave us a souvenir when we checked out. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

We had a wonderful 3 days and 2 nights stay here. The staff, Xiao Chen (小陈), was extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. She helped us collect food deliveries and even assisted with carrying our heavy luggage, which we truly appreciated. The toilet is equipped with a smart cover and has a nice vintage Chinese style touch. The location is also very convenient, just a short walk to Pingjiang Road (平江路). Overall, a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended. 我们在这里度过了非常愉快的 3天2晚。 工作人员 小陈 非常热心、友好，从入住到离开都给予了很大的帮助。 她 帮我们取外卖，还主动帮忙搬运沉重的行李，真的非常感谢。 卫生间配有智能马桶盖，整体带有复古中式风格，很有特色。 地理位置也很好，靠近 平江路，步行即可到达。 整体体验非常不错，强烈推荐。

Great location and friendly service!

The best thing about the room is the location. It is right next to Ping Jiang Lu River area. We could go there early in the morning to enjoy the river and scenery before the crowd came. The room was quite dark. There was hardly any natural light other than light from a small air well. Not sure whether this is the same with other room types. The floor and furnishings are mostly black or dark in colour. Placement and design of room lighting could be improved. The room is quiet and good for a restful sleep. The tea and coffee provided in the room is delicious.

A hidden gem of a courtyard, offering tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle, and I got upgraded to a private courtyard – what a steal! I chose Gusu Xiaoyuan Duanshan Tang for my trip to Suzhou, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. First, the location: Absolutely perfect! Step out of the courtyard, turn a corner, cross a bridge, and you're on Pingjiang Road. Go the other way across the street, and you're on Guanqian Street. It's incredibly convenient for dining out, exploring old streets, and enjoying Pingtan (storytelling and ballad singing), yet it remains surprisingly quiet. Truly an oasis of calm in a lively area. Next, the room: I originally booked a standard room, but the front desk upgraded me to a private courtyard – what a pleasant surprise! It’s a self-contained unit; the courtyard isn't huge but has a wonderful vibe. Sitting there at night, sipping tea, it's so peaceful you wouldn't know you're in the city center. The room itself was very clean, the toiletries were high-quality, and the bedding was comfortable. Service: The staff were very friendly and always ready to answer any questions. Check-in and check-out were smooth. If you're looking to experience the authentic 'small bridges, flowing water, and local homes' of Suzhou, but want to avoid crowded tourist hotels, Duanshan Tang is an excellent choice. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next visit. Recommended: Private courtyard / Great location / Quiet and comfortable
