Hampton Inn Americus

Americus|2.44km from Americus Sumter Co Tourism Welcome Center
I don't normally write reviews unless the facility is really good or really bad. This one was really bad. I have traveled for 10 years spending approximately 150 nights out each year. If this had been the first Hampton Inn I stayed in, I would not be a Hilton Diamond member. There is an expectation of quality among the Hampton Inn Hilton family brand. It is apparent the owner of this facility is not reinvesting any of the profits they are earning into upkeep or upgrades. Here are the negative facts - upon arrival the outside was not groomed, overgrown shrubs and dirty. Upon check-in the room was musty, the toilet had a black mold ring growing at the water line, the carpet was dirty, the sink and tub had soap scum, and the HVAC was noisy. Why didn't I check out - I had driven over 8 hours in a constant rainstorm and I just wanted to go to bed. The next day the elevator broke (the only one) and I was on the 3rd floor; the elevator was never repaired during my eight night stay even though there were several promises of it will be fixed soon. Why didn't I check out - by reputation this was the best hotel in that area (a sad fact) or I could drive about 50 miles to a larger town (next time that is my plan). In order to get my room serviced I had to specifically go to the front desk the night before to request it and they would put it on the list. Halfway into my stay I requested service; I only requested service one time. When I came in from work that evening my room had not been serviced as requested. I went to the front desk - the night clerk, knowing all of the issues, called the owner - it wasn't a good conversation but ultimately the owner called someone to come in and service my room. I went to dinner and upon return the room had been serviced. The workout room was a storage for broken equipment, see pics, and one of the night clerks told me the treadmill had not work since they had been there over one year; again no upkeep. Review of business certificates placed around the property revealed they too are out of date, no upkeep. Here are the positive facts - The night clerk that checked me in and was there most evenings, Shanda (sorry if I misspelled your name), was extremely kind. The hot water was good and hot. The breakfast area was nice and clean and had the waffle maker, which I enjoy when I have to stay over the weekend. I have included some pictures. It is my sincere hope I don't have to resort to staying at this Hampton Inn in Americus, Ga. again. I am grateful I had a roof over my head and did not have to sleep in a tent. It is not that hard to reinvest part of the profits into upkeep and upgrades. If you are not going to represent the Hampton Inn / Hilton brand then get out of the business!
