We booked our stay through Wowcher, and unfortunately the entire experience from start to finish was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we attempted to check in but were met by a member of staff (who I believe was the manager) who insisted we had not paid and tried to charge us again. I explained that the booking had already been paid for via Wowcher, as I am a frequent user of the platform and familiar with how it works. Despite this, he insisted I provide proof, requiring me to search through my emails and banking app while we were left waiting at reception. During this time, he disappeared, leaving us without assistance. Eventually, another member of staff arrived who appeared more knowledgeable and was able to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the problems continued with the accommodation. The first room we were given was extremely small, more like a single room, with a view of a brick wall approximately 12 feet away and loud extractor fans creating constant noise. We requested a room change, which was granted. The second room was larger but in poor condition. There were visible tea/coffee stains on the furniture, the carpet was damaged, and the wall lights had no bulbs, leaving the room very dim. When we asked reception for bulbs, we were told none were available and were instead given an additional table lamp, which made little difference. Dinner was also disappointing. We were informed that fish was unavailable, limiting the already small menu. The chicken dish we ordered was overcooked, and the pasta was served with a dry, unappealing sauce. The worst part of the stay was the night itself. The bed was extremely uncomfortable—like sleeping on concrete—and the room faced a main road with constant traffic noise. There appeared to be no soundproofing, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Had it not been for the fact we had been drinking, we would have left during the night. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. We left exhausted and extremely disappointed, and we will not be returning. We hope this feedback is taken seriously, as the standard of service and accommodation fell far below expectations.
