I stayed at Hometown Suites in Springfield, Eugene Oregon during graduation weekend and paid over $300 per night because hotels in the Eugene area were limited. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I had prepaid for two nights in advance. When I arrived shortly after the advertised 3:00 PM check-in time, I was initially told there were no rooms available despite my stay being fully paid. There was already a long line of guests waiting in the lobby, and many appeared frustrated by the delays. After a lengthy wait, I was finally assigned a room. The problems started before I even entered the room. The exterior of the property was poorly maintained, with trash scattered around the grounds and large areas of dead grass, creating an overall impression of neglect. Once inside, it was obvious the room had not been properly cleaned. It appeared the only thing that had been changed were the towels. The bathroom was dirty, the handicapped shower seat was rusted and covered with mildew, and there were stains on the ceiling above the bed. The toilet continuously ran and I had to fix it myself to stop the noise. The shower head leaked all night, and water leaked onto the bathroom floor, creating a slipping hazard. Every trip to the bathroom required stepping through water while holding onto the walls to avoid falling. I asked for an iron and was told the hotel does not provide one. The room was not serviced during my stay. The towels were old and worn out. My key cards stopped working and had to be replaced twice. Another guest told me theirs had been replaced six times. What made the experience even more frustrating was learning that this property appears to cater primarily to long-term occupants. Guests staying more than 28 days are reportedly required to leave for 24 hours before returning to avoid establishing tenant rights. I understand this is an extended-stay property, but cleanliness, safety, and basic maintenance should still be expected. Charging over $300 per night for a room in this condition is unacceptable. I took a video and photographs documenting the issues. Had this room cost $90 per night, I still would have been disappointed. At more than $300 per night, it was inexcusable. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this property to anyone visiting Eugene. Terrible experience.  This review won’t take my pictures.

It’s a place to stay. What can I say? Reasonably affordable pricing with no down payment or incidentals. The staff is reasonable. Be kind and they’ll be kind too. They’ll let you checkout a little later if you speak with them. If you don’t, what do you expect?

It’s actually disgusting and unsafe. The guest room I checked into smelled of cigarettes. I tried opening the window but there was no screen and found cigarette butts in the window track. I asked to move rooms after my daughter and I saw two homeless people going into the room below us and a man wouldn’t stop playing his iPhone loudly while smoking underneath our window . I asked to move rooms and was let into another room that also smelled of cigarettes. By this time it was too late and unsafe to move myself and my daughter to another hotel. Not to mentioned I had already paid for two nights via ******* and the manager of the hotel said there was no hope of a refund. We suffered through the night with wet towels over our faces and awake with burning in our chests. We got the hell out of there at daybreak and wasted the second night. Would never stay here again. This is a hotel for homeless people. They deserve one too, but it shouldn’t be marketed as pet free and smoke free!!!!!!! The other homeless couple checking in had a cat with them and the manager was fine with that.
