We only stayed one night but we wish we had planned a longer visit. The entire property is beautifully maintained and absolutely charming. We were warmly received and offered a welcome beverage. Because our stay was short we opted for the standard room. The bedroom and bathroom were of a reasonable size and complemented by a small foyer. Our room had a terrific view. The breakfast was beautifully presented and ample. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would love to return.

This hotel/chateau brings the “total package” to it’s guests. Large, comfortable rooms and excellent restaurant (Michelin rec) serves authentic Slovenian food/wine. Beautiful garden is a quiet setting for a read or pre dinner cocktail. You will find a warm welcome from Manager Helena and her staff! They will strive to make your stay perfect! It was our 2nd visit.

I got married at Kenda Mansion 20 years ago and my husband and I came back this weekend for our 20th anniversary. It was perfect then, it is perfect now. This hotel is absolutely superb. The interior immaculatelly kept with beautiful period furniture and classy details, a lovely terrace and garden that give the place a cosy, countryside, yet elegant feel. And the food is… out of this world. Using fresh ingredients from the surrounding farms, the food is local, home-made and a lot of it house-made, I believe. The dinner menu is meticulously thought of, showcasing typical local cuisine of the Idrija region. The delicious tastes and the presentation of the dishes are five-star cuisine and the epitome of Slovenian fine dining. Compliments to the chef for this culinary experience that is second to none, and to the entire staff and management for all the rest. Everyone is extremely welcoming, very kind and accomodating. Speaking several languages, the staff are food and wine savy, always ready to share some of their knowledge and experience with guests if they show interest. If you are thinking of visiting Slovenia, “Kendov Dvorec” is a gem that is not to be missed. It is simply… a dream.

This hotel and restaurant was a a wonderful experience. The staff made us feel welcome and valued. The room was great and quiet. By the way, the rooms look better in person than on the website. So glad we made the effort for this out of the way location and look forward to visiting again. A great place for relaxing and food.

This is one of the best small hotels in the world. We stayed for four nights in the large room with the balcony. As close to perfection as you can get. Service, notably front desk and wait (breakfast and dinner)/sommelier and staff is at the top of the Relais Chateaux experience. The hotel exudes character and charm. Cuisine is fabulous with local and international on the daily changing menu. The wine list is dominantly Slovenian and the sommelier will guide you through his choices. The rooms are quiet, large, older in style with all the modern conveniences and huge bath tubs. The front desk arranged a winery visit for us and they were outstanding in assisting with recommendations for itineraries within a one hour drive. Super fast wifi. Lots of signage from the road to get to the top of the hill to the hotel - Spodna is a small town. Beautiful location with views to the town or hills. Outside areas for sitting, summer dining and relaxing. The hotel website pictures are current and are true to the descriptions. This is a very special hotel.

The place is beautiful, both the mansion and surroundings. The history behind the mansion is super interesting, its ancient!! The staff was outstanding! Welcome drinks, tour of the whole mansion, hand written notes in the room etc. I have never been treated so well in a hotel before. The rooms are a combination of traditional furniture and all the modern amenities. The restaurant takes things to a new level. The food is delicious! Most of the ingredients are homegrown or locally sourced. Dinner in the form of a 7 course meal, both the fish and meat courses were delectable. The whole experience was outstanding, I can't wait to return!
