Myself and my 2 sons had a great stay in one of the bell tents. The site and the views are beautiful, shower and toilet blocks kept very clean by the staff and the shower shacks were great! Self catering kitchen clean and well equipped both in the camping block and inside the hostel. Bell tent was very comfortable and cosy even in the rain! There is no where on the campsite to dry your hair with a hairdryer so I had to go upstairs inside the hostel to use a mirror and plug on the landing which wasn't too much of a problem, but worth knowing. Every member of staff were extremely helpful and so friendly and the breakfasts were lovely. The overall vibe of the hostel and campsite is very friendly and welcoming. We had a wasps nest under our bell tent and the manager came out and had us moved to another tent within half an hour, a specialist was called in to remove them, he couldn't have dealt with it better. It's a 10/10 We will definitely be back, we had a fantastic time!

Booked a tipi for me , my brother and sister as everywhere else in the area was fully booked. With it being YHA tipi accommodation you would think that it would be a wallet friendly option. Well that is not the case, for 3 nights in a very tatty tipi with no facilities, I paid £319 and was including a discount for becoming a YHA member. Now I understand that with it being a bank holiday in August that prices may be high but there was literally just very basic bed structures and a wood burner, that’s it. Don’t get me wrong, I love camping under canvass, don’t mind the rain and mud even but I feel like I was fleeced on this occasion. Not only do I think that the prices for the tipis are too much, the on-site bar was expensive and the showers were dirty. YHA Hawkshead site policy says you only allowed to consume alcohol that is bought in their bar. On the plus side it was handy for getting into Hawkshead.

Just back from a two night stay this place was fantastic comfortable room and fabulous breakfast and the staff are very friendly would recommend this place if your in the area of windermere. It's a short walk to windermere. But a 15 to 20 minute walk to Bo'ness

1. Location, the hotel is just by the lake, but it is a 30-minute drive from Windermere, and it is far from the Lake District. 2. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed, 15 pounds a day, including breakfast. 3, the hotel is large and has a lot of parking spaces. 4. The meal is great, classic English. 5, the hotel toiletries are good, is the British Royal Development Supplies MB, the bathroom's heating rack is open in the summer, the towel will be done overnight. Great

In my last post I said I would be back again so when they announced there new Sunday roasts I couldn’t resist. Safe to say I wasn’t disappointed! Starting off with a Celeriac soup which was to die for, not my usual choice but it had some serious flavour. For main we had beef cooked to perfection served with a generous portion of veggies. And finally I finished on the Raspberry soufflé which may be the best desert I have ever eaten. The staff once again warm and friendly and the views are just wow. What a fabulous way to spend a Sunday

Old hotel, breakfast is good, the restaurant is also beautiful, the window in the room can see the Lake District, the hotel is on the slope, it is recommended to call a car with large luggage, the train station is only 5 fat

From start to finish this was amazing!! My wife and I booked afternoon tea at the wild Boar and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by the reception staff that were so friendly and warm they directed us past the beautiful open fire into the restaurant, the gentleman that looked after us was great and nothing was a problem, even apologised when we ordered something that was not included in the afternoon tea and said there would be a small charge for this ( no need for the apology but was nice) the afternoon tea came and was beautiful everything was perfect, the food was amazing. The place its self is beautifully modern yet had a cozy country feel. The best part for me was the male toilet as the urinal is a slate waterfall. Altogether my self and my wife had an amazing time and have came home and booked a night to stay in the hotel next month, this a 100% must visit and we will be back time and time again
