one of the best hotel I have stayed, you have everything like 12 restaurants to eat and the pools and the place to do kayak and be on the ocean pools ara amazing its a nice resort with everything you can dream, amazing views and the restaurant the mercado san juan its amazing for breakfast its food all around Mexico you need a week to see the whole hotel, plus you have acces to all the parks of Xcaret we try the xenses and Xcaret at night its nice, everything for all the family better than the disneys resorts I think its one of the top 10 best hotels in the world, it has something for all kind of taste, from privacy to a lot of places for socialize. I will comeback again for longer stay its worth it.

5 star all the way..... our 4th time to Mexico, and by far the best....This hotel and its staff are incredible. The rooms are lovely, very comfortable beds and everything you could need in the bathroom. All toiletries provided. The food quality and variety was second to none, the choice of restaurant was amazing, and no booking, so you can see what takes your fancy on the day....our only disappointment was not having a buffet option every evening, (I have some dietary requirements), but saying that, all the staff go above and beyond to get you what you need, and by no means did I starve....the food is first class and def 5 star. For all the Cocktail lovers....a huge selection and made superbly... We are beach dwellers, and the beach is amazing, spotlessly clean with plenty of beds. The beach waiters are a blessing, always making sure everyone has drinks and water.... A lovely treat on a hot day is the Icecream lorry....the down side is that, in my opinion, he comes at lunchtime when most people are having or have had lunch. It would be better if he came around 3, mid afternoon..... The gardens and pool area are kept beautiful and spotlessly clean. The entertainment..... the best variety at all times of the day....something for everyone... Just a few people to mention who went above and beyond to make our stay special....Gabrielle, Jess and Diego....Thank you All in all, every single member of staff that crossed our path were amazing, to those behind the scenes, cooks, gardeners, cleaners, just everyone, you are all amazing....a hotel is only as good as its staff.... And the Coatis are gorgeous, very entertaining to watch, especially the babies... This was one of our best holidays yet....and a return to Mexico will definitely be a return to Secrets Maroma. Our stay was beautiful, I will not deny that. However it was not without a few letdowns. I am a woman who is all about a pool and was so excited to swim in the absolutely gorgeous pool I saw in all the photos online. I visited the week of Jan 1- Jan 7th and the weather was quite warm about 75 degrees every day. HOWEVER, the pool was absolutely FREEZING to the point where I was shivering being in it. Felt like an ICE BATH :( It was not enjoyable and with this being a secluded/ all inclusive hotel there weren't very much other forms of entertainment during the day except for the pool and the beach (the water was warm at the beach). It was so disappointing. I called the front desk to ask if anything could be done but they stated was no pool heater/temperature adjuster. We paid about 4 grand total for this trip and to be completely honest were only able to enjoy the pool once. My next complaint comes to the beach. We went to the beach which gets pretty bus. There was a day where every single chair was full and two of the hotel cabanas were being taken over by random street vendors - taking away two spots for the guests from the 100% packed beach area. These guys were NOT a part of the hotel and are the vendors who go around trying to sell cigars, etc. I watched the staff pass by them multiple times and say nothing while ACTUAL GUESTS had nowhere to lounge by the beach. That was very disappointing as these guys were laughing loudly, staring at guests, and did not move as people walked by looking for chairs. Other than that I will admit that the food was great, the staff was super nice, the hotel grounds were IMPECCABLE, the rooms were nice, everything else was quite lovely. But for the reasons listed I will not be staying at this all inclusive again, although you can still make the most of it and have a lovely experience overall. I'd recommend a stay if you're not going for the main reason of enjoying the pool and the beach.

Beach stones are a bit more

The hotel is in the large park of Kaman Beach. There are many luxury hotels around. There are many golf courses. The hotel is a holiday nature and there are many recreational items. Please don't compare with the city business hotel. The balcony has bird droppings and the room has spiders. Normal, because the hotel is covered by the jungle, there are many flora and fauna, the breakfast is good, dinner is better, there are many restaurants and pools, the beach and sea are medium!

The good- staff seems to clean it. Pool nice. The not so good- cold showers, food, noise level from highway. Dates of visit- 12/25-12/30. They don’t have blankets on the bed, only sheets and when I asked for a blanket they said they don’t have them. They didn’t have enough beach towels for our family any day we were there and you are expected to keep the same sandy wet towel for your entire stay. We were told to hang them up to dry. I cut my foot on accident and asked for a bandaid and they didn’t even have one. They have no hot water. I got three rooms and none of had hot water. They told me to let the water run for about 20 minutes each time, but in never got beyond warm and wasted immense amounts of water. The room was cute. The bed not comfortable. The main thing I didn’t like was the air conditioner is either on or off. It doesn’t have like a normal setting that runs and shuts off and then turns on. It’s either on or off, running all night and condensing dripping into a puddle on the night stand and bed area. It is close to xplor which is why I chose it, but if you want to go to town the taxi is spotty at best. It kinda sits alone in the side of the road. I felt safe there and allowed my teen kids to get two rooms and didn’t worry about their safety, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend due to no hot water, blankets, towels, and terrible food.

Overall this is a beautiful resort and we had a lovely vacation. But, just like every resort in our experience, there is good and bad. It's always a compromise. The good does outweigh the bad here, but you should be prepared for the potential of a few challenges. The Good: The food is universally good across the property and at the neighboring hotels that are included. Really no misses for us on the food quality. The resort is huge. This is good and potentially bad. If you like to walk and explore, this is a great place. They have a very nice path along the ocean that allows for (very) long walks for fun or to get to your dinner reservation. If you don't mind or even like walking, again this is a great place. It's beautiful and for us this was a huge plus. If you have mobility issues, this could be a problem or just an inconvenience. They do have many golf carts running around and you can get rides. You may have to wait, but again it's very doable, maybe just not convenient. We never took a cart, but I watched many do it. We stayed in a swim up casita and it was very nice. Nice big room, nice bed, great outdoor shower, overall a super nice room. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Makes those long walks more interesting for sure. The place is generally very clean. They are always working, cleaning, etc. and it the effort shows. The alcohol is pretty top shelf and they also serve many beers in cans. This is something you don't see much of anymore. The Challenges: The restaurant reservation system is lousy and wonky. Everyone seems to complain about it so I hope they will change it. It's a web page where you have to book all dinner reservations. The concierge gave us bad info on the first day and that did not help (he told us you can only book 48 hour out and that was not true - We booked the whole week on day 1). Many restaurants are booked up, and in our case we had to eat at the same restaurants twice in a row for dinners (This happened twice). We heard some say they could not get reservations at all ( I can't confirm this as true) but it's not a good system and something to be aware of. The pools were cold. Not a big surprise, but when you can't swim in the ocean (due to the concrete barriers) it was kind of a problem for me. One evening it poured rain and you could see things falling apart. Room service was backed up for hours, it was very difficult to get a cart ride, and you could feel the service in general fall off. They are clearly not prepared to excel in challenging conditions. The worst of this for us was being denied a ride in a cart during heavy rain by a stressed out staff member. He told me he was ”too busy” to drive us back to our room from a restaurant. He was apparently delivering luggage, but I thought this was not acceptable. I think the guest experience comes first and why would you let your guest walk (a good 5 to 6 minutes) in the heavy rain.
