The room is quite big. I booked a suite. After entering through one door, it is equivalent to two independent AB sets. The balcony can directly enter the swimming pool. The next 3 photos were taken standing on the balcony. The environment in the hotel is good, and the surrounding living facilities are also convenient , within walking distance to Woolworth

Lucky find! Hubby picked the motel from memory. Memory was wrong lol. This little hideaway was just off the main highway - major bonus - no traffic noise! We got their last room. King bed, very clean. Small but practical with microwave, toaster, fridge and a small stash of wine, soft drink, chips etc. Management were friendly and helpful. Recommended the local RSL 300 meters away for dinner. The staff there had shut down cooking facilities but they roused up some fresh fish n chips for us. Real country town hospitality!! Service with a smile and a ‘can do’ attitude. Took note to stay here again

We were on our way home from Victoria with no booked accommodation. We decided to just drive and see how we felt - Karuah was an interesting name so we decided to drive into town and see what they had available. Lisa was a lovely host, happy to have a chat and give us some local information. The room was perfect for us and the bed was warm and cosy. We went for a walk around the town and loved the signs with the town's history, the local art and wooden bridge.

The room we were originally allocated had a broken toilet seat but we were quickly moved to another room so they could repair it and we received a voucher (as compensation for the inconvenience) toward breakfast at the on-premise cafe (which was both very popular and had a good selection; on a personal note our choices were well presented and very tasty). The location is excellent as it is central to the CBD/foreshore area and on-premise parking was plentiful. Whilst we didn't use it, the pool area looked excellent too. Our Garden View room was very comfortable and quiet with everything you could expect bar the kitchen sink. I'd definitely consider this a primary option for accommodation on future visits to Nelson Bay.

If I had to rate the staff it would be a straight 5/5. Excellent service and so helpful. Room large with a very comfortable king sized bed. Sofa (sofabed) was difficult to sit comfortably on as the cushions seem to have lost all their support. Could have made better use of the space in the room and it would benefit from a lick of paint and some of the furniture repaired or replaced. To be honest when I booked this, I expected roughly what I got, but being on a long trip we have stayed at far better places for less. In both Australia and New Zealand. Final comment, the guest services book, I appreciate you need to advise customers of additional charges for bad behaviour, damage etc but this book just goes over the top about them, in not very friendly language. There's even a bit about EVICTION and a final stern warning, on your way out, about fines if you forget to leave the TV remote!

Post covid, most 5 star hotels have reduced their standards and their service levels, and truly, are not providing what we expect at that level anymore. That is not the case with the Anchorage. Aside from the large, stylish and wonderfully clean rooms, that come with stocked mini bars, quality Dyson hairdryers, generous toiletry supplies, the 2 pools, beach next door, kabana area and lovely restaurants, ( we ate in both The Galley and Wild Herring,and breakfast is a high standard) it is the little complementary touches that set this place apart. It is the staff circling the pool offering fresh watermelon and zooper dooper ice pops, champagne/ mimosas and barista coffee at breakfast, sun cream and chilled water poolside, and a drink when you check in. The staff are wonderful and nothing feels like too much trouble from everyone that we encountered - Olivia and team at the front desk, to housekeeping crew and all the wait staff. A call out to Angela, James, Carlos and Katie for your disposition and service, thank you. I have been here a few times for work, facilitating events for clients but not had the opportunity to enjoy the location. This time I booked a leisure trip with my family and I write this review because it truly has been a wonderful experience and they deserve the acknowledgment. I would recommend The Anchorage to clients and friends alike based on the thoughtful touches alone.

Stayed 5 nights with partner and child in a cabin. Great size park, quiet and the staff are very friendly and very helpful. The accommodation and the pool were very clean and well maintained. This park is located in a lovely setting and not over crowded. We cannot wait to return.

We stayed in a couple of cabins for several days and found them to be clean and comfortable. The amenaties throughout the park are designed to keep the kids occupied with indoor and outdoor pools, as well as other games rooms etc. The mobile telephone coverage is average at best as is the parks wifi, especially when everyone gets up in the mrorning, so take as book and relax, as you should!
