The Hotel Sofia Palace Hotel is a straightforward hotel that adequately meets straightforward requirements. The positives are that is has a very convenient location (I was on a three-night business trip) for the city centre. Vistosha Boulevard is but a five-minute walk away. My room was clean, comfortable (though I made my own bed with a duvet found in a wardrobe and a sheet placed under my towels) and quiet from external noise. WiFi was very good. Breakfast was average, with a selection of cereals, savoury and hot choices. Complementary bottled water and tea / coffee in the room. The not-so-goods: breakfast beverages were underwhelming; orange juice was very chemically tasting, while coffee was not great. Internal noise was a bit intrusive, I soon became aware of neighbours' toilet habits. There is very little to the hotel other than your room and the breakfast room (though I didn't try the gym as I'm a runner), so there is nowhere really to relax or socialise outside your room. However, there is a good restaurant over the road for dinner, and a nice coffee shop just on the street corner for a decent brew. In sum, well located but basic. It met my requirements for business and as a base to sleep / shower and have breakfast, but I would look for more for a leisure trip.
