Shrewsbury Town Centre

Room looking very tired mould on bathroom ceiling rust on towel rail, chips on paint work, stains on sofa bed.  Heating didn’t work very cold room meant poor sleep , But overall clean  Large Queue at check in with very miserable staff.  Good town centre location.

The exterior of the building is just awful .Basically next to a building site .Our hearts sank on first view the exterior is basically filthy.For the price we paid it was more than disappointing. The hotel itself thankfully was fine inside.Due to self service check in ,we found the parking and general information for breakfast etc confusing.The bar was basic unfortunately not draught available on our stay either . The rooms were clean though , reception and food area smart ,staff when we saw them friendly.The breakfast was really great ,best part of the stay . If we had paid a normal price for a budget hotel I would not have the issues.On contracting customer relations after our stay ,I just got generic reply and no goodwill offered not even a complimentary breakfast . Shrewsbury interesting,found a lovely pub on the river called the Boathouse.

Our initial impression of the hotel appearance was poor, as it looks tired and dirty. We were then disappointed with check-in, as the self check-in terminals didn't work and consequently reception staff were overwhelmed. When I eventually arrived at my (Premier Plus) room it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, and continued to do so for the next two days. Apparently there were no other rooms available. However, the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable - Premier Inn beds are always good. Breakfast was very good. Drinks prices were high and the choices were poor, so we went elsewhere to eat and drink - there are many good options within a few minutes walk. We parked in the Frankwell Main car park, as it was just across the footbridge and reasonably priced - in fact our first day was free because it was Sunday. Overall we enjoyed our stay - the overworked staff were helpful despite the initial problem. But Premier Inn badly needs to smarten up the outside of the hotel to give guests a better first impression.

This is our 2nd stay and won’t be our last. We like premier inn as you know what to expect. All the staff are friendly and great breakfast. Great location close to everything, short walk from train station. When you go try the Curry House the good is amazing.

Managed to get a late booking in here on the way to london, Hotel was good staff were excellent, there seemed to be a large group of students staying but that was fine and didnt impact my stay, breakfast was busy but the buffet was always topped up, generally a decent nights stay in a hotel with air con, a few good pubs down the road for a few beers helped in the hot weather.
