The hotel is quite old but very popular, and the service is excellent. Every morning, they serve a traditional English breakfast. Its central location in town is incredibly convenient. I stayed there for a long time.

We booked for the Shrewsbury School speech day and leavers ball so the whole town was fully booked. Thankfully there was a suite available at my favourite local hotel. We needed a room for 3 and the hotel staff were super helpful in accommodating our needs. It’s family owned and the culture of care is pervasive. It’s a hotel where the staff like to say yes. Not to mention the character of the hotel itself. It’s a mixture of 12th, 15th and 17th century architecture forming an elaborate maze of rooms covering the block. The Matthews family have truly created a 5 star hotel experience. I was even offered a glass of sherry by the night watchman when I checked in on once at 1am. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Overpriced for what you get. The room is tired; a few damaged items - dripping tap, very loose door handle, toilet seat, flickering light, crumbs on the carpet. The lift isn't currently working so not ideal with heavy bags up flights of stairs.
Very friendly staff, especially the ladies on the breakfast service. Breakfast offering had good options and it's a good location for being right in the town centre.

It has a very historical feel, the stairs are all made of wood, the room is small but the bathroom is very clean, it is very convenient to go shopping around, they are all old streets, it is very worth staying.

Environment: Taxi drivers can't drive to the hotel entrance, or walk more than 100 meters. On rainy days, dragging a suitcase on the cobblestone road is not very friendly.
Hygiene: There is no bottled water in the hotel room, and there are many ditches for boiling water. I originally planned to make do with it; I looked at the mugs provided by the hotel. There was a chocolate powder on it (this is quite generous) and a spoon inserted. Oh my god, there are still traces of someone drinking on the spoon. The sticky things have not been washed off. I dare not look at it for fear of disgusting myself. I was thirsty that night, and I was too lazy to go downstairs to ask, and there was no bottled water for sale. The town is basically closed at 4:30.
Facilities: The floor of the whole building creaks when walking, it's too broken. In late February, the heating is cold. The bed seems to be simple, like an old-fashioned spring bed, and you can feel it when you lie on it. There is no quilt, just a blanket. Just sleep well, anyway, it's just one night.
Breakfast was free and generous, but there wasn't much. There was some bread and some green bananas. I took one and tried to eat it, but I couldn't even peel it off. It was too raw.
I will never stay at this hotel again. I'm sorry to say that.

A very old hotel, built in the 12th century, it seems to have been a hotel for more than a hundred years. When you check in at the hotel, you will be given a glass of delicious local wine, which is very special and delicious. The hotel room is clean and tidy, and the breakfast is very good. Except for some bread, I ordered my favorite English breakfast. The hotel restaurant is decorated with many antique utensils that are hundreds of years old.

The hotel is old and the room is small. It is OK for two people to live together. The hotel's elevator is a small elevator from a long time ago, which is OK in such a small town. The room is relatively clean

The hotel is relatively old, and the front desk didn't take the initiative to say hello to the hotel before two o'clock. After waiting for an hour at the front desk, other guests got their room cards one after another at 2:35, and I asked for my room card three times before giving it at 3:20. At that time, I wondered, it seemed that my room was very special. Sure enough, I entered the room and saw that the room was very small. The aisle at the door was less than 1 meter, and the bed was only 1.35 meters. I asked the hotel front desk to communicate. The front desk said that the same room type varies from big to small. I booked a discounted room online, so it is smaller. It is the first time I heard this saying that it needs to add another 40 pounds to change to another room. Although I changed the room after coordination with Ctrip, it wasted more than an hour and I felt particularly bad.
