From the moment we arrived at the Oberoi Cecil in Shimla we were greeted with kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff: from the ***ager to the concierge, room cleaning staff, restaurant chefs and servers as well as the therapists at the spa, all staff went out of their way to provide extraordinarily levels of service. This a place with a guiding ethos: “What can we do to make your stay with us better?" To highlight specific individuals is difficult as all were exceptional. Special thanks to Chef Raj Kappur Bhattia and his team, Tenzin (at the spa) and Chirag, our room attendant who kept our suite as beautiful and tidy as when we first arrived. As well as its people, the hotel has fantastic facilities: a great restaurant with a wide selection of Indian, Asian and European dishes; the gym is well-equipped and the pool is heated (29C/84F). A definite 5 star review.

One of the most memorable trip we had ..stayed for three plus weeks .... Would like to thank the whole Cecil team. From the front desk to housekeeping and dinning and the security all are so helpful and humble . You will feel at home always if you are staying at Cecil .

The best hotel I have been to. The staff are excellent, food delicious and the hotel facilities very good. For information for the independent traveller, there is a small airport in Shimla and Tibet is doable from here. Shimla is stunning, lots of wild Monkeys, history- including House of the former Viceroys of India and walking in foothills of Himalayas

The Cecil is a wonderful place to stay, made particularly so by the friendliness of the team who go out of their way to ensure all your needs are met. Beautiful rooms, public areas and great food in the dining room. We had a luxury room on the third floor. It was beautifully appointed. These rooms overlook the road at the front of the hotel and we were worried about noise. It proved less noisy than we anticipated and the soundproofing from the corridor (all rooms open off the stunning central atrium) was faultless. The windows could do with better double glazing, is my only negative comment. If you truly want a peaceful night, a room overlooking the valley is probably a safer bet. Altogether a wonderful experience. What a wonderful team.

The hotel is full of character, our room was spotless and comfortable with a good pillow menu. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and cannot do enough for you. A perfect stay in Shimla. We highly recommend paying the extra for the valley view room, the vista is stunning.

The hotel lobby gave us a cruise type feeling with natural sunlight and spacious sitting area. The staff were very nice, professional and accommodating. The food was delicious and the chef was astoundingly polite and generous. We enjoyed our stay a lot!!!

An amazing place with exceptional service. We have never been treated better. And nicely located in Simla/Mall Road. The amenities were great, there was an activity room for kids, spa service and swimming pool. Fantastic family location

The stay was absolutely amazing. They made sure that every single detail was looked at. The food was delectable. The house keeping staff, especially ***than and Swetha attended to our every need. Basically it was an amazing stay and all around experience was superb. Definitely recommend staying here.
