We stayed at the Jaz Fanara as a couple and booked a family room.
The location and the entire hotel complex are definitely highlights. The grounds are beautifully laid out, well-maintained, and visually appealing. We also enjoyed the pool area. The family room was spacious enough and adequately furnished, even if the decor was rather standard and nothing special.
However, the absolute highlight of the hotel is undoubtedly the beach and the house reef. In our opinion, this is the hotel's biggest asset and makes the entire stay truly special. It's excellent for snorkeling.
The food was varied, and there was generally something to choose from. However, many dishes simply lacked flavor.
Unfortunately, the service was disappointing overall and, in our opinion, not up to the standard of a resort in this category. Many employees seemed unmotivated, inattentive, and sometimes even annoyed. We rarely experienced friendliness or a warm welcome. The reception staff was particularly disappointing. At check-in, our questions and requests were answered very coldly and, at times, with a hint of irritation. Additionally, comments were made in Arabic, apparently under the assumption that we wouldn't understand them – my wife, however, speaks and understands Arabic. This left a very unpleasant impression.
The cleaning service was also rather superficial. The rooms were made, but not really thoroughly cleaned.
The entertainment and evening program were also disappointing. Apart from a few external shows, there was hardly any atmosphere or entertainment at the hotel in the evenings.
Another point that we personally found unpleasant: Some male staff members repeatedly stared at my partner in a very conspicuous and uncomfortable way. Anyone sensitive to such things should be aware of this.
Overall, we still had a nice vacation, mainly because of the beach and the resort. We would still recommend the hotel for 5–7 days, but personally, not for a longer stay.
