The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

Lujiazui Area Shanghai|0.57km from Shanghai World Financial Center
When it’s time for me to take a well-deserved break from the stressors of my life, I head to the Ritz Carlton Shanghai IFC. I experienced the 49th floor Club level. I will definitely return. My room had my preferred view of the Oriental Pearl (TV) Tower. I’m originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, so watching the barges on the river brings me peace. And when it’s time for the nightly light show at 7 PM sharp, my inner child is giddy every time. It’s the little touches that means so much, the beautiful fruit and flowers next to the macaroons upon arrival to my art deco chic hideaway makes an old Girl feel special. In-room dining is so amazing with their delicious offerings of comfort food like perfect mashed potatoes or spaghetti. Each Gentleman and Lady provided polite service with warmth! Thank you! Breakfast was wonderful at the Club! Fabulous Manager in the making, Beyond, greeted me with a welcome smile and relaxed demeanor that made me feel very valued! He chatted and checked on me as I leisurely made my way through both Chinese and Western breakfast items: I had the most tasty bowl of dumplings (perfect broth), an incredible serving of Chinese spinach (or was it something else) it was deliciously tender and tangy topped with Asian pickles-that is how I eat greens in the US: homesickness alleviated. Get your Western style breakfast happiness: eggs - made to order, fresh, squeezed orange juice, toast, sausages, and exceptional baby potatoes. I will return to the Club level so that I can try them more offerings and thank the Ladies that graciously kept the black coffee, fresh, squeezed orange juice and club soda coming. Because my room was on the same floor as the breakfast club my walk back to my fluffy bed and a glorious nap was not a long one. As a successful insomniac I can happily say that while I am at the Ritz Carlton IFC, I am unsuccessful. I always get the best sleep while I am visiting. I will be returning to The Ritz for more warm elegance soon!

Wanda Reign Hotel

The Bund Area Shanghai|1.28km from Shanghai World Financial Center
Overall a lovely experience, very luxurious. The check-in process was particularly notable—it didn’t feel like many hotels where you stand at a counter to check in, instead your luggage is taken to a counter and you’re seated in armchair while the concierge checked you in. A nice touch! The rooms are extremely spacious, with even the fairly basic room I booked having a seating and dining area. Everything in the room (curtains, lights, AC) is controlled via an iPad, which also felt very nice. The bed was comfy, view of the Bund was stunning both at night and during the day, and the bed was comfy. The added amenities like a Nespresso machine, selection of Chinese teas, and bath salts for the huge circular bathtub were all greatly appreciated. The breakfast had a good variety of Chinese (especially Shanghainese) and western options, mostly on-par with other 5-star hotels in China. Not bad but nothing to make it stand out. My complaints are few, but worth mentioning: 1.) the AC in the room just wasn’t that effective. Even though the weather is cooling down in Shanghai, the room seemed stuffy. I cranked it all the way down to 15 C but still woke up too warm. 2.) I left my room in the evening briefly to grab some takeaway I had ordered and when I returned there was a staff member in my room!! He was placing a plate of fruit on the table (which id lovely and not the reason I’m complaining). I was quite startled and said “hello” in Chinese and looked a bit shocked but he didn’t say a word or apologize and just ran out while staring at me. Perhaps he only speaks Chinese, saw I was a foreigner and thought I couldn’t speak Chinese…not sure. It was definitely a strange encounter.

Grand Hyatt Shanghai

The hotel begins at floor 54 with its lobby. The view out of every window is spectacular. Unfortunately the rooms look and feel a bit dated. Some furniture pieces look used and have scratches or the sink small rusty spots. On the other hand the location and view is very good. Further more the breakfast is extremely extensive. From western to chinese food you have big tasty variety. Something for everyone. All in all a good hotel that can be recommended.

The first day I came up gave me a surprise. Mr. Ji Yuxuan’s Shanghai Park Hyatt is the highest hotel in Shanghai. On the same day, because of a small problem with the room, the duty manager Lu Chaoqiang upgraded me to the suite for free. Not vulgar design concept, high-quality and appropriate service, highly recommended

The J hotel is truly beautiful. Very impressive from upon entry. The fragrant that hits you upon entry was indeed breathtaking. The place smelt immaculate. Although it was a one night stay for us, it was the little things that made such lasting impressions from the package deal that came with the room to their customer service, it was impeccable. The food there, OMG, exquisite, delicious and moreish. For breakfast we definitely went A la carte and was quite surprised when we were told we can order the entire menu if we wished 😂. By all means we had seconds. Loved the fact that we got an extended check out for 2pm with no additional charge. We really enjoyed our stay there. I have only two faults with the hotel: 1) The rugs/carpets in the room can do with a deep clean. Though it didn’t smell or anything but the dirt and stains are very noticeable. Hence the 4/5 for cleanliness. 2) The fact that at some point we had to leave the hotel to head back home🥲. Overall, if the price is a non factor I say pay this hotel a visit, you won’t regret it. We will definitely visit again.

Hotel not up to par for a IHG hotel. Service of a 2-3* hotel, hotel staff are unhelpful and rude. Most of the spa facilities don’t work / they don’t bother fixing Hotel breakfast is definitely not up to 5* standard, the omelette had no taste Hotel room is better than expected The pool is good as the pictures but they really need to fix the water jets or else what’s the point of having the facilities I wouldn’t come back Will add that they did provide compensation in form of bfast in the end, but still lacking.

Everything is incredible except for the mobile network coverage but you can use their Wi-Fi instead. If you’re in for making your own meals rather than eating out every night, you must come to the place as they have everything you need, from oven to stove to dishwasher to all sort of kitchen utensils. Also, I loved the bathtub. Clean and spacious. Period. Very convenient too. Just a few steps away from the Lujziachui station, the new town of Pudong. About 20 minutes by foot to the Bund or just take a cab. DiDi is fairly reasonable.

For the New Year this year, let’s change our mindset and rent a large flat floor in a luxury house. Let’s DIY together. The apartment is very cost-effective, the swimming pool is tropical, the clubhouse is fully functional, the night view is beautiful, and the elderly and children are satisfied! Fraser Suites deserves to be a top apartment brand.
