The Drama Hotel

Jing'an District Shanghai|0.85km from Shanghai Natural History Museum
Other reviewers have written that this is an “opera” inspired hotel but anyone with a background in Shakespeare will see through that. Each room is named with a word from a verse of a Shakespeare play instead of numbered. Rooms have Chinese editions of Shakespeare’s plays and a sort of “newsletter” explaining the connection between the Bard and the hotel. The bar has A Hamlet quote depicted in fluorescent lights. Michael Fassbender’s “Macbeth” plays on a big screen in the lobby. It’s clear someone here really likes Shakespeare. As to the hotel itself, it is recessed from the street making it somewhat hard for taxi drivers to find but ensures a quiet nights sleep in a lively part of the city. You’re a short walking distance to places like Tock’s and Taco Bell and just a little further distance for the Starbucks Roastery. This is an even better location if you need to visit the US Consular Office for passport related issues and the like as it’s only a few minutes walk away in the Isetan building. Leave your bag and computer here to minimize the security rigamarole of the visit there. Only negative potentially is that my room was pretty dim even with lights on, but that was a minor point, at least to me. Probably not an ideal location if you’re a first time Shanghai tourist looking to spend most of your time strolling the Bund and darting back and forth to Pudong— about a 20 minute taxi ride away. But if you’ve done the Bund and you’re in Shanghai for other reasons, great location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.

A hotel group should do a good job in its own brand and reputation. The same hotel group should do a good job in the service and attitude. It can have different characteristics and different styles according to the area, instead of resisting and high-end distinguishing hotels. If the distinction between high and low grades will indeed lower the print of the guests. Elephant and feeling, Shanghai Jing'an Natural Museum Atour Hotel, advantages: comfortable location, relying on the Suzhou River, compared to other Atour may be a little far away from the subway, but it is not inferior, the service of the younger brother and sister at the front desk is not bad, breakfast is rich, taste is very good, disadvantages: But compared to other Atours I live in, it is indeed much inferior. Some details are not in place. I booked a twin suite and arranged to stay in Room 323. When I entered the decoration, it was a bit old Shanghai. The old and new were good, but I slowly found that there were some problems in the room. The young lady told me that the room inside was an old building, so there was no way to install an additional air conditioner, so it was equipped with a cold air fan, but the sound of the cold air opportunity was not mute, resulting in noisy to the elderly at night, there were few places to dry clothes, and the clothesline was speechless. There is no place to put towels in the toilet. The toothbrush needs to be picked up at the front desk every day (this is not understood, and it is the first time I have encountered it). I don’t know what Atour thinks. The toilet glass is very transparent (you can ask the staff to experience it). When I was in Hangzhou, I was told that Atour, who lived lightly, was resisted. Now I finally understand why someone will describe it as resisting (the price of resisting is not cheap, no difference from the price of four or five stars), the bed is also very soft, and the hygiene: the aunt is estimated to be too busy, the toilet is not washed, the paper towel cushion is still the same as when you come back, and the paper towel has not been increased. The shower head in the bathroom cannot be equipped with water pressure, just like what I said earlier, if the hotel is distinguished according to the high-end resistance, a hotel will lower all the services due to resistance, it will really give the guests a big discount, and will slowly do worse and worse like some chain hotels. This time I stayed in comparison to other hotels and even the same as Atour. Jing'an Natural Museum Atour Hotel is really a bit different from facing the Suzhou River... Match, I will not consider it next time I come to Shanghai!

露女俠暖舍公寓(大田路分店)

The house has a lot of space, each room is very large, the two toilets are also very large, the house decoration is simple and generous, the hygiene is also very good, the quilt towel is white, they are very clean, the tap water is very large, and the temperature adjustment of the house is also very smart. The location is also very good, very close to the Natural Museum and the US Consulate, there are fruit shops, convenience stores, printing shops and the like downstairs, the only downside is that the quilt is a bit heavy and it is not very comfortable in summer. Also, it is recommended that the landlord remove all the dead plants in the house, which will affect the beauty (did the cleaning aunt not water it?) In general, I like this homestay very much, giving me and my family a good mood this time in Shanghai, if I come again, I am willing to book here! The stay was very smooth, so I didn't contact the landlord, but I want to say thank you!

Located in the bustling downtown area, the transportation is extremely convenient! Close to Nanjing West Road subway station, it's easy to get to Pudong Airport or Disneyland, saving time and worry. The living room and dining room are spacious, the sofa is comfortable, and you can overlook the Natural Museum from the window, with a nice night view. The most satisfactory thing is that the room is fully lit, clean and tidy, and quiet at night. The kitchen and bathroom are also very clean, feeling just like home. The kitchen is fully equipped, allowing you to cook delicious food and enjoy the taste of home.

The experience of staying at this homestay was very wonderful. The door looked unremarkable. When we walked in, there were neighbors cooking in the corridor, but when we opened the door, it seemed to be another world away from the market. Tall houses, sinking rooms, exquisite and small restaurants next to a private small yard, open the yard door to see a kitten sloppy escape and look back, really very smart first impression. The color of the room is very good, the shots are beautiful, and it is not the so-called ”net red” wind. A variety of furniture, ornaments, flower arrangements, and a few books scattered at will can see the owner's taste and intentions. The room was cleaned very neatly, the flowers also made the house smell a little fragrance, and it was extremely comfortable as soon as people walked in. If there are shortcomings, the old house has poor sound insulation and a little cold on rainy days, but because everything else is too good, these inevitable shortcomings can be tolerated. Fortunately, I also recognized the fellow with the landlord sister, who is also from Beijing, and was instantly kind. It is this beautiful house that makes me fall in love with Shanghai, a literary metropolis. The location of the house is very good, the natural museum and the shopping center are about five minutes away, the noodle restaurant next to it tastes very good, there are convenience stores, fruit shops, it is the best interpretation of living elsewhere. I really hope I can live here for a longer time in the future ~
Shanghai Stylish Pied-a-terre at Jingan central (West Nanjing Road)

This is a really comfortable apartment in a great location. Transportation to everywhere is made really easy with the West Nanjing Rd subway just across the street. There are 24h convenient stores and a large western supermarket nearby for grocery shopping. The inside is spacious and has a decent kitchen and a convenient set up of a bathroom, large closets, and 2 large bedrooms with king beds. We were here for a work trip and stayed for about a week and the amenities are complete to serve the apartment as a home away from home. The host is very responsive and accommodating and she also provides clear instructions for check-in/out and for the usage of all the equipment in the apartment. Thank you, Faye. Highly recommend and will come back again in winter to try out the floor heating!
