Anhe Garden Hotel

Xuhui District Shanghai|0.52km from Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Let’s talk about the advantages first. The location is good, diagonally across from Shanghai Cinemas, and the environment is also good. Next to it is the Yi Chi Garden. Next, let’s talk about the shortcomings: 1. When I arrived at the hotel at 12:40, the front desk said that the guest room had just been checked out and was being cleaned. Normal check-in is at 2 o'clock. I said yes, and I would come back at 2 o'clock. After having lunch nearby, I returned to the store again at 1:50. This time someone changed the person at the front desk and said that the room was still being cleaned. I didn’t understand why it took two aunts to clean one room for 11 and a half hours. How much time did it take? dirty? Thank you to Ctrip for a smooth check-in after communication. 2. The door connecting the terrace to the room is not locked. There is a public area under the terrace and the room is on the second floor, which means that people from outside can easily climb up. I raised questions about this, and the front desk staff said that no guests had asked before. I also expressed my shock when faced with this kind of problem. Later I used the key to lock the door, but unfortunately because it had been left open for so long, one door was still unlocked. I would like to remind single people not to choose this room type as it is a safety hazard. Still exists. 3. There was a constant ”dah-dah” sound in the room when I slept at night, which lasted all night. I wore noise-canceling headphones to fall asleep. 4. The breakfast only has a set meal, which is very simple. The drinks only have orange juice and milk, and there is no coffee. The Chinese set meal has only porridge as the staple food, not even small wontons and clear soup noodles. Men may not be able to eat enough. Generally speaking, I basically don’t recommend staying there. For the same price, you can stay in Seclusion or Black Rock, which will be better in all aspects.

Lestie Hotel Hengshan Road, Xujiahui, Shanghai

Xuhui District Shanghai|1.08km from Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Wife and I just spent 13 nights in a Yarrow Suite @AUD350 p/n.(via Trip.com). I have previously stayed at this property on a number of occasions when it was under different ownership and was known as GianGong/JinJiang, and when I was always very satisfied with my stays. On this current occasion however, I was a bit disappointed - mainly due to the virtual complete lack of English language capability from any staff (previously there had always been an English speaker on duty at Reception). So most of our comunications had to be via a cellphone translation App. I get it that we are guests in China but do feel that having the facility to make ouselves understood is of worthwhile value. Further more we felt the breakfast buffet offerings were disappointing - whilst being plentiful, most dishes were served cold - which in the middle of a Shanghai winter is not good enough. Also after a few days the supply of cutlery knives apparently ran out (from pilfering??), so that towards the end we certainly expanded our expertise in the use of chopsticks. On the positive side the availability of a laundry room is very handy facility. Perhaps this property has suffered adversely from the pandemic and it was noted that its up-market gift shop no longer exists. Also, the overall locality around Hengshan Road seems to have lost a lot of its vitality as it currently is not the ”party street” that it previously was. We actually sought to extend our stay by a couple of days but were quoted a much increased price for our room although it appeared to be the only one occupied on our floor. So we moved to the Donghu Hotel which offered better value for our Aussie dollar (and where most of the front office staff speak English). In summary I feel that the Lestie Hotel is still good but has perhaps evolved principally towards the Chinese domestic market, is a bit over-priced, and so I would not recommend it to foreigners.

There was nothing great about this hotel except the location. The breakfast was so bad that me and my daughter did not even eat anything at all in breakfast from the buffet. They need to upgrade their bathroom amenities. It was so old. The staff was helpful though. Very cozy and nice cafes and bakeries around the street which made our stay easier.
QIU GUO HOTEL(Shanghai Xujiahui Jiaotong University Subway Station)

I went to Shanghai for the first time, and Ctrip chose this one after seeing it for a while. The subway is convenient. The rooms are really value-for-money, fully intelligent, and the large TV sets have great visual effects. The air conditioner and hot water are completely fine. The hotel is cost-effective, with unlimited three bottles of Baisui Mountain, as well as Sprite, Coke, Fanta, and free drinks. The two types of pillows are very comfortable to sleep, and they are really highly recommended. In the later period, if you go to other cities, you will have the priority to choose autumn fruits. I hope that all cities have this quality. Stayed for two days, it's great and I like it. The location is very good, the house is very warm, the facilities are very complete, I watched the projection for two nights, great. The kitchen pots and pans are all condiments, and the long-running bar is too good. I don’t need to turn on the air conditioner this day. I slept with the window open. The cat outside the window was shocked by the fight on the first night. The pure crab meat crab yellow stew wrapped by myself was perfect. Hehe

Traditional hotel. The advantage is that it is in the Shanghai Jiaotong University campus. It is a tourist experience to visit the school. The trees such as sweet-scented osmanthus, ginkgo and other trees are lush and very quiet. The various wooden ship models in Dong Haoyun's collection are particularly wonderful, the characters are wonderful and the work is excellent.

The location of the hotel is very good. It takes half an hour to get out of Hongqiao Station. Jiaotong University is next door. The hotel is very close when you come out of Exit 3 of the subway station. You don't need to go around in the subway station. But there is no elevator at Exit 3, so it is inconvenient to carry a suitcase. The room is large and comfortable. Although the facilities are not new, they are complete. There is a refrigerator. In addition, the air outlet of the air conditioner is too loud, the charging port next to the bed is inconvenient, the remote control is not easy to use, and the curtains are poor in blackout.

The location of this B&B is very good, right next to Wukang Building. Our family stayed here for two weeks in a row. Except for the old corridor, we thought it was pretty good! The boss arranged regular cleaning and even turned on the floor heating, which was very considerate! The bedding in the house has no peculiar smell, and the pots and pans are fully furnished. It is very suitable for a family to stay.

Shanghai, located on China's central coast, is the country's most populous city and one of the most vital financial hubs in the world. Shanghai's skyline, punctuated by the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and the towering Shanghai Tower, paints a vivid picture of the city's impressive blend of traditional charm and modern flair.

Journeying to Shanghai

Shanghai's main international airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, offers numerous connections globally. Once there, you can reach downtown Shanghai using the Shanghai Maglev Train, buses, or taxis. For domestic travelers, high-speed trains offer an efficient means of travel.

The main mode of payment in China is usually through AliPay or WeChat Pay. Most places still accept credit and debit cards, but it's wise to carry some local currency (RMB) for smaller vendors. Mandarin is the official language, with Shanghainese also widely spoken. A translation app may come in handy when interacting with locals.

Shanghai is brimming with must-see sights. Walk along the Bund to see colonial-era buildings against the backdrop of a modern skyline. Visit the tranquil Yuyuan Garden, an exquisite example of Ming Dynasty design. The Shanghai Museum hosts an extensive collection of Chinese historical artifacts, and the Shanghai Disney Resort promises fun for the entire family.

Shanghai's Seasons and Apparel

Shanghai has a humid subtropical climate. Summers (June-August) are hot and humid, while winters (December-February) can be quite cold. The best times to visit are autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May), when the weather is moderate. Pack a mix of lightweight and warm clothing to adjust to fluctuating temperatures in Shanghai.
