Reviews for Shanghai Hotels

Shanghai Centre Serviced Apartment

Jing'an District
The location is good, very close to Jing'an Temple and Metro Line 2 and 7. Life is very convenient. The rooftop garden on the 8th floor is clean. There is a small theater on the 4th floor. Since it was built more than 30 years ago, the glass is still single-layered, so the air conditioner cannot turn on the heat on cold days. What to do on a hot day? ?
Yitel Collection (Shanghai train station)

Train Station Area
The hotel is near the railway station and not far from the Jiangning Road subway station. The traffic is fairly convenient. The facade is relatively hidden and not easy to find, it is recommended to use navigation. The environment of the hotel is pretty good. The lobby is very spacious and provides seats. There are only three floors in total, so there is basically no need to wait for the elevator. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel staff are more enthusiastic. I am new to Shanghai and I am not familiar with the Shanghai stock market. The front desk answered a lot of my questions. The cleaning aunt is also very kind. There is a convenience store and a small canteen just outside the hotel. There is no food in the hotel itself, and I usually eat breakfast in this small canteen. For dinner, consider the south square of the railway station. The fly in the ointment is that the windows are relatively small. They are two small transoms for ventilation, but they basically cannot see the outside. The lighting is a bit problematic, but the room lighting is brighter. The other is that hotel tables are not suitable for computers. Some rooms are round tables, and some are long tables, but they are blocked by wall decorations. If you have office needs, you should pay attention to it. If you can accept these two points, this hotel should be said to be more value-for-money.

This was my first time at Merry hotel and I had a wonderful experience for me and my sons. The rooms , bathtub were spotless. Everyone at the hotel tried to make your stay as easy as possible. The reception even went of their way to come to the room to show me how to connect to the internet. I would definitely visit again and I recommend to families as well.
Hotel Equatorial Shanghai

The hotel is well located and the staff is very nice. However, the rooms as very dirty and run down. There is a wide variety for breakfast but it seemed the food had been resting there for a long time. The gym is ok. We paid for an upgrade to an Executive room (Club Lounge access). We were told the Lounge was open for breakfast, it was not. There room was smelling to cigarettes so much, the only solution they gave us was to spray the room. We ended up checking out 2 days earlier as it did not seem fair the price we were paying for the poor cleanliness and bad maintenance of the rooms.

I picked this hotel as I was arriving late at HongQiao train station and this is on the same metro train line 2. It’s very close to metro. Opposite Jing An temple. Close to several shopping malls. Not as busy as East Nanjing Rd. Use exit 14 if u travel with luggage. The staff here are friendly. Concierge even helped me with my luggage to the metro entrance. Clean, comfy bed, quiet room.

Shanghai's skyline, punctuated by the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and the towering Shanghai Tower, paints a vivid picture of the city's impressive blend of traditional charm and modern flair.

Journeying to Shanghai

Shanghai's main international airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, offers numerous connections globally. Once there, you can reach downtown Shanghai using the Shanghai Maglev Train, buses, or taxis. For domestic travelers, high-speed trains offer an efficient means of travel.

The main mode of payment in China is usually through AliPay or WeChat Pay. Most places still accept credit and debit cards, but it's wise to carry some local currency (RMB) for smaller vendors. Mandarin is the official language, with Shanghainese also widely spoken. A translation app may come in handy when interacting with locals.

Shanghai is brimming with must-see sights. Walk along the Bund to see colonial-era buildings against the backdrop of a modern skyline. Visit the tranquil Yuyuan Garden, an exquisite example of Ming Dynasty design. The Shanghai Museum hosts an extensive collection of Chinese historical artifacts, and the Shanghai Disney Resort promises fun for the entire family.

Shanghai's Seasons and Apparel

Shanghai has a humid subtropical climate. Summers (June-August) are hot and humid, while winters (December-February) can be quite cold. The best times to visit are autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May), when the weather is moderate. Pack a mix of lightweight and warm clothing to adjust to fluctuating temperatures in Shanghai.
