CHEERMAY Hotel (Shanghai Jingan Si Yanan Xi Road)

This hotel offers great value for money, especially considering its downtown location. The entrance is small and unassuming, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the rooms were. The facilities are quite new, and the mattress and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Being in the city center, it was incredibly quick and convenient to get around. I'd definitely book again if I have the chance.

The room was spotless and the cleaning staff, particularly the auntie who serviced our room, was incredibly kind and responsible. She did a thorough job cleaning and replenished our toiletries promptly, making our stay very comfortable. Overall, the hotel offered great value for money.

Convenient with good value for money. I extended my stay by another day because compared to other places nearby, this one offers great value. The whole room is voice-activated smart, and you can also cast your phone screen. There are many attractions nearby, and the food is good too. Easy to get a taxi.

Unexpectedly good!!! I've stayed at several hotels near Yan'an West Road, and there's no shortage of hotels around Jiangsu Road. But this is my first time staying at Chaoman Hotel Yan'an West Road, and it will be my top choice whenever I'm in this area again!!! It's the king of value for money. The bathroom and bed in the room are very well-designed and user-friendly. The parking lot is shared with nearby office buildings and other hotels, but this hotel offers free parking, which is a huge plus considering how many hotels in this area don't. Parking fees around Yan'an West Road for a whole day can be quite expensive! The room size is not small at all. I highly recommend getting a room with a window; it's very comfortable. The hotel occupies only the third floor, with dozens of rooms. The second floor is a restaurant. For around 300 RMB a night, in this location, that's a pretty good deal.

The hotel is located in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around. While the entrance may not be grand, it didn't detract from a pleasant experience. The front desk staff was warm, welcoming, and professional, and check-in was super quick. The room itself was clean, tidy, and comfortable, featuring a smart speaker and a smart toilet seat.

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center. However, the room was tiny, the air conditioning was very noisy, and the toilet flush was shockingly loud. The most unbearable thing for a guest, though, was the cleanliness under the bed – it was covered in dust.

I spontaneously decided to visit Shanghai, and by 11 PM, I still hadn't booked a hotel. So I just picked one randomly. I saw that the windowless rooms had a significant discount, so I booked one, planning to just make do for a night. Turns out, it was completely uninhabitable. The space was extremely cramped, and there was no basic mechanical ventilation. The air conditioning was a central system, so I couldn't control it myself. The AC panel was just for show; I couldn't adjust the cooling, heating, or ventilation modes at all. There were no vents whatsoever in the entire tiny space! I felt suffocated as soon as I entered. And there was hardly any phone signal! According to regulations for public place hygiene management, hotels and other public spaces must maintain air circulation, and indoor air quality must meet national health standards. This violates the 'Public Place Health Management Regulations' regarding air and lighting requirements. The 'Specifications for Dormitory and Hotel Building Projects' (GB55025-2022) explicitly states that guest rooms should have natural light and natural ventilation. When I called the front desk, the customer service representative lacked even basic common sense and professionalism. I told her that windowless rooms should have a fresh air system or adjustable AC ventilation. She replied that she didn't know what a fresh air system was. When I emphasized that this room lacked basic ventilation and could easily lead to suffocation, posing a safety risk, and asked if the hotel would take responsibility for any safety consequences, she just stayed silent! The only solutions offered were to switch to another windowless room of the same type, or pay an extra fee for a room with a window. After multiple communications, this was still their only response. Out of necessity, we had no choice but to pay the difference to switch to a room with a window (luckily, the platform intervened and provided a subsidy). The entire handling process was very unpleasant, and the hotel's service was extremely poor. If it hadn't been 11 PM, I would have definitely just switched hotels. I want to reiterate: their windowless rooms are truly uninhabitable. There's no mechanical ventilation whatsoever, posing a safety hazard. Even in the room with a window, the sink had untreated mold stains. I will also be reporting the issues with this hotel to various departments in Shanghai. This was the worst hotel stay experience of my life, without a doubt.
