If I had to describe it in one word, it would be 'flawed perfection.' We always try to experience local-style accommodations when we travel (even in Japan, we stayed in traditional Kyoto hotels). The hotel's decor and overall experience were definitely good, but there were also many issues: 1. The bathroom ceiling was incredibly low (I'm 174cm, my husband is 188cm, and I had to stoop the entire time I was in there). 2. The bathroom was freezing. Because it's directly connected to the courtyard with just a door separating them, the room's heating never reached it. The owner provided a small heater, but even after running it for a long time, the bathroom never warmed up. Taking a shower while hunched over and freezing was a terrible experience. 3. The room's smart controls were poorly designed. There were many lights whose switches I couldn't find, so I had to use an iPad to control them. However, the iPad only offered a single on/off switch for all the lights – it was either all on or all off. The biggest problem was that after turning off all the lights in the room, the power outlets also shut off, making it impossible to charge electronic devices at night. This is completely unreasonable! 4. The room's projector was very dim. 5. The underfloor heating was very warm, but the mattress was directly on the floor, causing me to wake up multiple times throughout the night feeling overheated and parched, as if I had been baked. 6. This is what ultimately made me decide to write this negative review. While I could understand the previous points as limitations of a traditional room, having construction work start upstairs at 8 AM was absolutely unacceptable. We contacted the owner to explain the situation (that we hadn't been sleeping well recently and hoped to catch up on sleep today), but received no response. Even if we put that aside, check-out time is 12 PM, and we should have been guaranteed peace and quiet until then. The constant banging and drilling noises from upstairs completely ruined the experience! And what's more, there was no one to complain to, and no one responded! I paid nearly 300,000 Korean Won not to be able to shower properly, not sleep well, and be woken up by construction at 8 AM!

Response from Property: First of all, I apologize for providing you with an unsatisfactory stay. All the points you mentioned are detailed in the instructions placed on the dining table. It seems you were unaware of how to adjust the settings because you did not check the instructions. The bathroom is low because it is an old building designed to accommodate the height of Koreans from the past. Since this is not something we can do about, we provided a bathroom chair so you could sit while showering, but it appears you did not utilize it. I am sorry regarding your dissatisfaction with the bathroom layout. Also, regarding the cold, it seems you manually changed the bathroom heater setting that we had configured. We checked it while cleaning and found the heater turned on to the lowest setting. Furthermore, detailed instructions on how to adjust the lighting and floor heating were provided in the instructions, but it seems you did not check them. Regarding the construction, since it was an external renovation that we were not notified of in advance, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Because the construction was being conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, I was unable to request a halt to it, so I was unfortunately unable to take any measures to assist you. I apologize. However, although we consistently provided responses through Trip.com, checking messages was slow, and the claim that we did not respond is false. I have considered the reasons why you left this review. Initially, since it was my companion's birthday, I requested birthday party supplies and decorations from the hotel. Although I informed them of the additional costs involved, they insisted that it be done for free. When I refused, they left this malicious review. Excluding the construction issue, I had informed them in advance of all the complaints they mentioned, and a notice was even placed on the dining table; however, they did not check or listen to it and still voiced their dissatisfaction. I am truly sorry that we could not provide the satisfaction you envisioned for your enjoyable trip to Korea. We will take your feedback into account to provide better service. Thank you.

Very nice and clean hanok. 1min walk from metro station. Free instant noodles and coffee. You may need to bend down a little bit in bathroom if you are taller than 1.7m

The accommodation felt so cozy and warm. It was a very clean and wonderful place. The only downside was that the bathroom ceiling was a bit low because it is an old building; otherwise, it is a truly perfect place. Even if a problem arises, the owner handles it quickly, so there is absolutely no issue. They even resolved it late at night. 👍

A chaotic trip to Seoul with friends... It was hard to find accommodation, but it turned out pretty good.. Unpacked, watched a play in Daehak-ro, came back to the place, and had a great time with friends... It was clean and had a nice atmosphere.

The room was fantastic! 👍 It exceeded my expectations! Clean, tidy, and smelled wonderful. The location is excellent, with lots of good food and fun things to do nearby. It's an 8-minute walk to Gyeongbokgung Palace. The host was very easy and quick to communicate with. When they ran out of coffee beans in the room, they offered complimentary coffee from the nearby coffee shop. ❤️ I would definitely stay here again next time.

I thought the house was beautiful, with a vintage feel. The owner was very thoughtful. It's near Gyeongbokgung Palace, and there were many people in Hanbok taking photos in the area. The house is very close to the subway station, which is very convenient. I would definitely go again next time.

I made a reservation to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace with my daughter. It was very close to Gyeongbokgung Station, so it was good for sightseeing in Seochon as well as Gyeongbokgung Palace^^ The accommodation had a great atmosphere and was clean, so there was nothing to complain about. In particular, the bed was very comfortable, so I was able to rest well after sightseeing. I was also very satisfied with the restaurants recommended by the host, and he kindly guided me here and there, so I would definitely visit again next time. I recommend it to everyone.

The accommodation was really clean and cozy. Everything I needed was provided and convenient. The space matched the photos and was beautiful. They also helped me book buses, taxis, and tickets to nearby places. I am truly grateful to Gyeongbokgung Stay for helping me make my trip to Seoul with my daughter so meaningful.

I stayed in a hanok house for the first time. I was worried about the cold because it's an old building, but the heating worked quickly and we had no problems. It's very close to the station and there's an escalator to get up to ground level, so it's in a great location for travelers. There's a Daiso in front of the station, and restaurants and convenience stores nearby, so it's not inconvenient at all. It's close to the main road so I was worried about the noise, but I didn't have to worry about that at all. I stayed here on a family trip, and everyone was satisfied! It's a favorite place to stay and I'd like to stay again someday☺️
