We stayed here for two nights. There was a problem with check in when our room was not available till 4pm despite Marriott Bonvoy emailing me the day before to select a check time (I selected 2pm)! This caused unnecessary frustration. Our original room had a view over the car park and the front desk agent, Zain, was excellent in reassigning us a room with a very decent view instead. This was much appreciated. Always ask. Other aspects of the service were below par however. I had to wait over 30 minutes for an ironing board to be delivered to the room, to replace a ridiculous (and IMHO, dangerous) table top model which collapsed each time I tried to use it. The UHT pots of milk in the room had also gone off and I needed to order more. We wanted to switch off the aircon in the room at night, partly on account of it being very noisy and also that it blows cold air in your face in bed (for some reason the compressor is in the bedroom part of the suite, not the lounge part). However we could not switch this off (there isn't an off switch). The maintenance man suggested we simply set the thermostat as high as possible to prevent it coming on. A bit weird. So all in, a curate's egg - some parts excellent others well below expectation. Tip is to avoid a room in the north wing - it looks over the car park but to ask for a room in the west or south wings which look over the golf course and pool area. Notwithstanding the above, the room was very comfortable if in need of updating - I understand this is planned for summer 2023 throughout the hotel. The clientele at these places is however of a certain age and would probably be content with the eighties decor for the present. The common areas of the hotel were, as you'd expect, of a high standard including the pool area. So overall, a mixed bag.

I’ve been staying here while here for business for the past month or so. And I must say, after driving and traveling 1.86 million miles record on my vehicles transport cars for my own business and staying and numerous extended stays, this is top notch! Alvina checked me in SEEMLESSLY and extremely customer service oriented and also gave me great insight to the happenings in the area for leisure and restaurants (and prices). She was very kind with my dog and now my dog was upset he had to leave her. When I entered the room, it surpassed my expectations from other extended stays I’ve stayed at prior across the country. Well done! This is one of the best experience I’ve had at ANY hotel!

Let me preface this by saying I am not normally a complainer. I come from humble means and understand as human beings we all error, businesses included. I'm also a hard core travel planner and enjoy all aspects of travel planning for friends/family even some clients. That said, it has taken me 4 days and probably 9 hours of being on my phone 24/7 trying to ”right” a ”wrong” made by IHG/ this resort over canceling our reservation and never once contacting us to let us know. I spoke to every employee in any office position of importance from the front desk in Scottsdale to corporate offices in Florida. Most lied about their promises to return phone calls, many refused to pick up their phone period. I tried email, social media, the whole nine yards. We found out just a few days prior to our airplane departure for Phoenix they canceled our room (reason never truly given ) and I only found out because I called the resort to ask a question, otherwize we would have shown up with no room. We are an active duty military family who just wanted to take a simple vacation AND inquire about vacation ownership while here. We paid upfront for our package and received confirmation of such. The customer service, or lack of thereof I received from numerous management and representatives over the course of this time was enough to make me eat the cost of my airfare and drown myself in the tears of my children after they realized there would be no pools or water slides to look forward to. Thank GOD this doesn't happen to every guest who books here, as Im quite sure our situation was more rare than most but the fact nobody would get me to the right individual in charge and or be willing to honor our original booking price and room without a bull fight tells me alot about the lack of quality in management, poor oversight, and the worst communication I have ever experienced in my life. To add insult to injury, I was also charged nearly $1500 extra to my credit card for a room that was not supposed to require a deposit in advance that was not authorized. After this experience I would 1000% never buy a vacation club membership here. If you think this review sounds terrible, you're correct it was. No exaggeration, no twisting of facts or situations. I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation now. Yeesh. I will happily return to my review and leave some more positive and joyous remarks at the completion of our stay. Fingers crossed.

In previous visits before Covid, I had been quite enthusiastic about the HGI in Scottsdale North Perimeter Center. The room rates have gone up, and services have deteriorated. The guest has to specifically request maid service; the furniture (Room 315) has deteriorated considerably; there were two lonely bars of soap in the bathroom and one washcloth. A staffer with a serious anger problem barked at guests twice in my presence. This behavior is unbecoming of anyone in the hospitality industry. The location is good, the rooms are quiet, the air-conditioning works, the rates are up, and the hotel is not what it used to be. For a night or two, perhaps. Don't irritate the angry staffer.

Desert View Scottsdale|1.91km from The Promenade
This hotel is in a very good location, central to everything in Scottsdale. It could be a very nice hotel if they just cleaned it up a bit. But unfortunately they have let it go and its starting to get a bit shabby. The carpets in the hallways are trashed, stained and dirty. The carpets in my room had stains and smelled like sweat and dirty feet. Otherwise the room was clean. The mattress on the king size bed was sloping to one side and had a large ”crater” where too many people have slept, it is time to replace that bed for sure. The room has an upgraded modern look. One downside, there is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and the wall between the bathroom and the room is paper thin, you can here everything if someone is using the bathroom. Ask for a room away from the pool area otherwise you can hear all the noise from the pool until 10:30 at night. Staff was friendly. They were taking all the covid precautions. The hotel really doesn't offer anything other than a room and the pool. No restaurants or bar or any other amenities. I only have one real complaint and that is they don't tell you that you will be charged for parking. Even though they do not have valet, a garage or security parking. They just have a regular outside parking lot. I think it's a scam to not tell guest upon check in about that extra fee. Its $7 a day that is added after you check out. They say it's in the ”fine print” on their site, but it still seems like a rip-off to me.

Sandra, who works at the front desk, helped me with my dilemma. I had an early appointment the next day, which might have run over the normal check out time of 12:00. I explain my situation and just as I was finishing she said “You want to move your check out time? Maybe one?” I was surprised how quickly she handled my problem. Her thoughtfulness did not stop at that one exchange. The next morning I was waiting for the shuttle, which was to arrive at 07:00. She noticed it was 06:50 and the driver was not there. Without me mentioning anything, she called to make sure the driver was on the way. He arrived soon there after. I greatly appreciate her professionalism. Of course, I will stay there again. That stay was my fourth and am always impressed. Sandra was a great help during a stressful time.

This is our go to place for our annual staycation during the summer. It's a wonderful resort. They have wonderful pools. They also have an ”adult only” pool if you want to relax away from the kiddos. To add to our wonderful experience was the Bird Man from Liberty Wildlife. On the 4th of July he had Aurora, a huge beautiful female bald eagle. You are able to take a picture with Aurora and as she is lifted up behind you she spreads her gorgeous wings! On other days he might have a hawk or an owl. The live band in the pm was fun too! The picture I posted here of the Bird Man is from Google. The eagle he is with is beautiful, but not Aurora. 💜
