Hampton Inn & Suites Scottsdale at Talking Stick

This hotel is okay, but doesn't seem to meet the standards of the Hampton Inn brand. Our room was continually damp & musty, while other areas of the hotel were hot, leading me to believe there's an issue with the HVAC system. There was no way to open a window and allow fresh air to enter the room, either. The breakfast was fine, and the options were changed during the time we were there, which was nice. However, the pool area is very small and is really just a slab of cement with a pool in the middle of it. The location is convenient, but in the future I'll choose to stay elsewhere in Scottsdale as it seems like a lot of money for an average hotel experience.

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid-January. The hotel was well appointed, and well maintained, both in our room and in the public areas. The outdoor pool was very cold, but the hot tub was just right, and the surrounding deck tempted us to sun bathe. Breakfast was the usual HIE fare. The staff were friendly and helpful, laying up our stock of dry ice in their freezer when we discovered that the frig in our room did not have a freezer. The one curious feature here was the absence of a microwave in our room. This was a first in more than 500 HIE stays! It forced us to take our dinner plates downstairs to warm in the communal microwave adjoining the check-in counter. This was mystifying because it was transparently obvious that there had been a microwave in our room, and that it had been removed. Forcing guests to use a communal microwave during the midst of a pandemic is an incredibly bad idea; I implore the General Manager to address this issue at once.

The staff was great, patience, professional and knowledgeable of the area. The room was beyond our expectations it was clean, smelled sanitized.. loved the decor and the bed was firm but clean and extremely comfortable. Impressed with the lobby area and corridors were clean and quiet. Couldn’t find any complaints about the entire stay.. at least 6 days. Centrally located to freeway and eating places as well as shopping. Room rates were great.. The breakfast was good and fresh. The only thing I couldn’t deal with was the guest was throwing their car trash in the parking lot. And only a few steps from the trash can.. shame on you 👉. But the staff stayed on top of it.. But trust me you won’t regret your stay.
Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort Spa Gainey Ranch

I was not believing what I read on the Hyatt app and had to see it for myself and indeed as of 5 June 2023 to the end of the year the pools are closed. The courtyard area was off limits and there were no valets. We only saw the front desk crew during our short visit. I did see a ladder in the pool complex. On the Hyatt app, restaurants like Alto, Noh and H2Oasis are no longer listed, and the Center Stage Bar and the Canyon Market are listed as closed for the 2023 Summer. (The two open remaining restaurants are SWB and Cantina Due). Looking at the bright side, the pool complex is sure to be much improved in 2024 with over a half a year to upgrade. The restaurant line up seems to be a work in progress so there could be some exciting newness there. We hope that the Hyatt Gainey will have some life after the 2023 summer when the Center Stage Bar is back. (Maybe entertainment too.) And guest can get their coffees and snacks at the Canyon Market. In the meantime, the Hyatt Gainey will be a quieter simpler place.

Wow this hotel is beautiful! Everything was a great experience from check in to check out. Great location, close to many places to eat. The rain tree cafe was closed the night we checked in and we are out for breakfast so I cannot comment on that. The room was perfect, clean and in good condition. I wish we could have stayed more than one night! Everyone was so friendly too!
