"Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel Stay: A Truly Deserving Five-Star with Impeccable Service This trip to Fuzhou, I specifically compared two five-star hotels: Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou. After staying at Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel, my previous disappointment with the Shangri-La vanished. As a well-established state guesthouse boasting West Lake views, its facilities, amenities, and service fully live up to five-star standards. The overall experience was significantly more comfortable. I. Hotel Environment and Location: Rich Lakeside Heritage The hotel is situated right by West Lake. The grand entrance features a pair of white elephant sculptures, stately and imposing. The entire glass-curtained building directly faces the West Lake. Upon entering, the lobby displays a calligraphy plaque reading 'First Building of Lake and Mountain Scenery,' creating a strong Chinese traditional atmosphere. The location is its biggest advantage. Stepping out, you're immediately on the West Lake walking path, perfect for an evening stroll or a morning jog. It's only a ten-minute drive from Sanfang Qixiang, making sightseeing very convenient. It's a peaceful oasis in a bustling area, without the noise typically found in city hotels. II. Guest Room: New Chinese Luxury, Spacious with Top-Notch Amenities The guest rooms feature a modernized New Chinese style, with dark wood finishes paired with ink-wash orchid paintings, creating a calm and elegant color scheme. The room is very spacious, avoiding any cramped feeling. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the city's buildings, and you can even catch the sunset in the evening. The bedding is soft and thick, complemented by two sets of pillows, ensuring a great night's sleep. A curved leisure sofa is tucked in the corner, and the desk is large, perfectly adequate for business travelers. The minibar thoughtfully includes seasonal fruits. The independent bathroom is fully tiled with marble and features both a bathtub and a separate shower, ensuring clear wet and dry zones. The mirrored vanity cabinet provides ample storage, the bathroom lighting is soft, and the toiletries are comprehensive. There are no flaws to be found in the hardware configuration. III. Value-Added Features: Humanized Service Beyond Competitors at the Same Price Point 1. Smart Robot Delivery Service There's a guide card on the guest room desk for robot delivery. Compared to the Shangri-La, where deliveries could only be left in a locker outside, this convenience is a huge difference and extremely friendly for business travelers or guests with luggage. 2. Exclusive Lakeside Running Amenities The hotel offers custom-made running shoes printed with a map of West Lake attractions, available for free rental or purchase. Given its proximity to the lakeside boardwalk, the hotel specifically caters to active guests with running shoes and related services. This unique feature is greatly appreciated by running enthusiasts. IV. Dining Experience The buffet dinner offers a rich variety, with clear sections for hot pot, seafood, local specialties, desserts, and fresh fruits. The ingredients are fresh, and replenishment is prompt. There's a diverse selection of fruits and drinks, and the hot dishes cater to both local and general tastes. The dining area is quiet and clean, and staff proactively clear plates and refill water. The overall quality is consistent. Breakfast offers a comprehensive spread, including local Fuzhou snacks like fish balls and peanut soup, as well as Western pastries, freshly ground coffee, and a whole grain station. Compared to the ordinary breakfast at the Shangri-La, the variety and sophistication here are a cut above. V. Overall Summary Advantages 1. The well-trained staff of an established state guesthouse provide prompt service. Minor Drawbacks The hotel building is older, so some public area elevators are a bit slow. During peak hours, check-in might involve a short wait; it's recommended to avoid peak times. Overall, for the same budget, Fuzhou Lakeside Hotel's hardware, convenient services, and dining standards are far superior to other five-star hotels in the city. Highly recommended for both leisure and business travelers to Fuzhou."

"The hotel is a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, and I was given a room not facing the street, which was quite peaceful. It's close to Sanfang Qixiang, and a taxi ride is just over ten yuan. The room had a bit of an odor, and the smoke removal could have been better. The courtyard was convenient for parking."

"This was my first time staying at a hotel in Fuzhou with my two kids. After much comparison, I chose the Xihu Park branch of the Yuehua Hotel. Even during the May Day holiday, the price was still quite reasonable. The room was larger than I expected and had a small balcony. On the day we checked in, we received complimentary fruit (2 apples and 1 pear, haha!), drinks, and starting at 9 PM, there was congee and small side dishes available. Overall, the service and breakfast were the highlights. The staff at the lobby, in the rooms, and at the fitness center were all fantastic. When I checked in, I asked the front desk for a bed rail, and it was delivered and installed within 10 minutes. The staff operating the electric shuttle carts were always very nice; one even got out of the cart after parking to show us the way to Xihu Park from the hotel's side entrance, concerned we wouldn't know how to get there. When my child was swimming alone in the pool, the staff there even helped look after them. The restaurant's breakfast was incredibly rich and varied. Not only did they have all the authentic Fuzhou snacks, but also a full selection of Chinese, Western, hot, and cold dishes. This was much better than other hotels I've stayed at before. The dining staff were also excellent, proactively introducing Fuzhou snacks and reminding the children to be careful. Special shoutout to Xiao Wang, who was beautiful, kind, and very enthusiastic. My elder daughter said she wants to stay here again next time we come to Fuzhou (though it would be even better if the kids' play area was a bit bigger, haha!)."

"Stayed for two nights in a river-view room on the 50th floor. The high floor offered fantastic views, especially at night when we saw fireworks below. Our package included a 200 yuan dining voucher, which we used at the lounge. The lounge also had great views. We ordered a burger and Indonesian fried rice set; a 15% service charge was added. Overall, the food was good, but the service was quite slow, which I hope they improve!"

"The location was very far away from the sightseeing areas.  Also the TV not working very nicely especially the remote control.  But the front desk manager was very nice and helpful.  If the hotel restaurant can open from 7 am to 9 pm will be more convenient for guests to have meals when late check in."

"Extremely satisfied with my stay, excellent value for money! Amber, Max, Viki, and Rowan at the front desk were incredibly welcoming during check-in! They were attentive, thoughtful, and patiently answered all my questions about travel and breakfast. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, making me feel very comfortable. The location is superb, within walking distance of Hangcheng Metro Station and a commercial area. Changle High-Speed Rail is just 2 km away. Upon entering the lobby, I was offered welcome tea. The front desk was efficient with check-in and even proactively arranged a high-floor lake view room for me. Room: Spacious (standard room 40㎡+), with floor-to-ceiling windows offering great city/lake views. The branded mattress was just right, offering excellent support, and the bedding from a well-known brand was very comfortable. Soundproofing was excellent. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the toilet room was independent and odor-free. The toiletries had a pleasant fragrance. Breakfast: The buffet offered both Chinese and Western options. There was a Fuzhou specialty station for 'lao mian'/'lao fen', freshly cooked eggs, and a rich selection of fresh fruits and desserts. Replenishments were prompt. Service: Staff members proactively smiled and greeted guests, and their response time was quick. Overall, it's standard five-star quality. I would definitely choose this hotel again for both business trips and vacations!"

I requested to be on the same floor as another family's parent-child room for convenience, and the hotel thankfully accommodated this. My parents were very satisfied with the room's facilities, cleanliness, and ambiance. They especially enjoyed the hotel breakfast, finding the variety extensive and the flavors suitable for both seniors and children. Every time we took a taxi, both arriving and departing, the hotel greeters were very attentive in helping my parents get in and out of the car. This thoughtful service is truly commendable!"

"The room was small but exquisitely designed. The outdoor hot spring area and pools were incredibly photogenic! The water jets also created a fantastic 'wave' effect. My only suggestion is that the outdoor lights at night need to stay on for several times longer than they currently do; that definitely needs adjusting! The hotel restaurant's food was also excellent. I hope they continue to maintain their high standards. It's a hot spring hotel worth recommending!"
