Sapporo is the capital city and administrative center of Hokkaido. It is the northernmost city in Japan that has a population of over one million. When in the city, visitors can head to the Sapporo Clock Tower, Odori Park for the Sapporo Snow Festival, the picturesque Mt. Moiwa and Hitujigaoka, and more.

Sapporo has four distinct seasons. Flowers bloom in the spring, and the leaves change color in the autumn, making both seasons popular for tourism. The region is known for being quite cold in the winter, and many visitors also come to see the snow. Some visitors also use Sapporo as a transit city to visit other cities in Hokkaido.
