Best Western Sapporo Odori Koen

Best Western Sapporo Odori Koen has good value for your money. We had a triple beds family room. It is somewhat small, but hotel rooms are typically small in Japanese standard. It should not be compared with Best Western Hotel sizes in North America. The hotel front desk lobby is nicely decorated. Hotel room has a good size desk, it has a mini fridge, kettle, drawer with instant coffee, creamer and sugar. It also has a window but not much to view. It is compact but well equipped. The front desk hotel staff were friendly, polite and spoke OK English. Vending machine on ground floor was stocked with a variety of drinks, including beers. Two microwave ovens were available on hotel lobby, so you can heat up some foods from convenient stores, but I preferred it was inside my room. I particularly like this hotel provided generous supplies of instant coffee, creamer, sugar, green tea bag, stir-stick at hotel lobby for guests, even though there were supplies in my room, so you can replenish without asking. In term of location, It is almost 17 - 18 minutes walk from Sapporo Station (about 1.3 to 1.4 km walk), it is somewhat far. However, if you know the area well, you may get to the hotel mostly in the underground shopping street from Sapporo Station, this is very important to know if you visit Sapporo in the winter. Once you checked into the hotel, it is conveniently near many attractions, including Sapporo TV Tower, Odori Koen, Tanukikoju Shopping Street (many restaurants there). If you get into the underground shopping street, the restaurant choices are almost unlimited.

We stayed in nine hotels during our six week Winter visit to Japan; this hotel was the third most stylish but the second most uncomfortable. The corner double room has the right look with a little tea room next to a floor to ceiling window. We had a partial view of the Botanical Gardens which was pretty. The room was uncomfortable for the following reasons: 1. No storage. The room fit out is super minimal but if you have luggage there's nowhere to put it and no hanging space. 2. The designer was going for a zen low lighting experience but the room was so dark we couldn't see anything. There is one dim lamp next to the bed and another low light overhead light. It was so dark we had to borrow desk lamps to be able to see into our suitcases. Maybe the designer was trying to create a moody atmosphere but we found it dreary and depressing. 3. The thermostat has no fine controls - the room was either way too hot or very cold. We chose to turn the heat off and borrow extra blankets and wear extra layers. We chose the corner double room which despite being one of the larger rooms, felt too cramped for a four day stay. The onsen was stylish and cool. The outdoor onsen was set in cute snowscape. Having an onsen with snow around you felt very luxe. Unfortunately this hotel attracts a certain young, nouveau riche clientele who take selfies endlessly in this Instagram ready hotel. There were men taking photos of themselves in the onsen on two occasions; I felt like my privacy had been violated as I was in the same bath. It upset me they didn't respect me enough to abstain from taking video footage. Did they do that just because my partner and I were clearly not Japanese? We enjoyed the authentic breakfast, although I feel like having it once probably would have been enough. The location of the hotel was a bit of a dead zone, unless you love walking there are probably more central locations. If you can't speak Japanese the staff are just OK. I was overcharged and managed to get a refund even despite the language barrier. I would not stay at this hotel again but I did enjoy certain aspects of my stay.

We visited Sapporo for the snow festival in Feb 2020. We selected the Leopalace based on location/price and reviews. On arrival, due to the weather and late night we decided to take a taxi to the hotel, this cost about Y1000. (after our stay it was fine weather, so we walked back to the JR station which took about 15 minutes). NB - neither my wife or myself speak Japanese, just a few phrases. Check in at the hotel was easy and straight forward, and we were directed to lifts behind reception. Our room was clean and spacious by Japanese standards. We chose not to book breakfasts, we were there for the snow festival so there was a huge variety of fresh market style food available. The hotel was a very short walk from the main avenue where the festival is held. There is 7/11 located on the corner of the hotel and also a long shopping arcade a couple of minutes walkaway. We wanted to use the hotels spa facility which is shown to be on floor 9. we put on the robes provided but having taken the lift up to floor 9 we found only bedrooms. so we called reception and mistakenly asked for direction to the onsen (we should have said public bath) because we asked for the wrong thing we were told the hotel does not have an onsen and then they hung up the phone. So I changed in to regular clothes went to reception and eventually worked out that the only way to the spa was via another lift in reception. Because we had to walk through reception we elected to wear regular clothes which was fortunate because eonce we found the spa area there were large signs telling you in English) not to wear your robes in reception, of course by the time you read that in the spa you would have already walked through reception. I don't mind if there is little English signage but if you take the time to have English translations put them where they can be of use - IN THE ROOMS. (oh and you need to take the towels from your room to use in the spa too) . We found the room temperature very comfortable and both slept well during our stay. We asked the reception to make a dinner reservation for us at a popular restaurant for our second night, this took a little while as initially they assumed we wanted to book into the hotel resturant, but once we passed this confusion they reception were very helpful. Making sure we had our booking reference and even showing us on a map where it was (even though we already knew this). Other than the phone call about the onsen/bath we found the reception staff very friendly and willing to help.

The hotel is old. Remember, don't talk or work with the old man staff of hotel, all of them are slow and low efficiency. If you need any assistance, please Remember to find young hotel staff. Two times of electricity fuse were broken and one times of toilet flush was out of order during my stay. In general, not good !

In fact, very close to the West West 18, we got off the train from West 11, asked 5 people do not know the location, the first driver pulled the wrong hotel, the second time is also looking for a long time, a small facade. This one homestay, posted notices, is very taboo, the number of people in the room is excessive, the room was dumbfounded on the same day, more than a thousand nights too primitive, and did not include breakfast. After living for one night, I got used to it. The family was very compact. Health is doing very well! ! ! The boss can't communicate in English, like our pure Japanese blind, I can't ask you about the situation. Before let Ctrip ask our family of four (including a baby less than 2 years old), said to add fees, the boss said that before leaving. My husband doesn't like this style. I think it's OK with the kids. The nearby barbecue and fast food are good, and the price is favorable.

There will be a sudden power outage, and you have to restart the electricity system yourself. The data shows that there is luggage storage, and finally there is no. In fact, the accommodation location is very close to West 18 Chome Exit 5, then turn left to arrive.

Location is good, 3 minutes walk from the subway station. I stayed in a non-smoking single room without meals. The key is an old type that is not auto-locked, but the inside of the building was clean. This time the view from the window was the wall of the next building in the room on the 3 floor, but it was quiet and nice. Welcome drinks were also free and good value for money. There is an e-sports corner in the lobby. Color 々 is devised.
Hotel Route-Inn Sapporo Kitayojo

Previously, I had a comfortable stay at some route inn and had a good impression of route inn. And this time I have a business in the direction of Kuwazono. So I chose this hotel, which is about a 10-minute walk from Kuwazono Station. .. .. Because the expected value was high, it's something less than expected. The key is not a card key nowadays, and the door of the room is not auto locked. It seems that the staff cannot afford it, probably because it is turned by a minimum number of people. The large communal bath was not crowded and I was able to enter slowly, but the temperature of the hot water in the shower was not stable and suddenly changed to hot water. It was so hot that if I was an American, I would file a lawsuit, but I wonder if no Japanese think anything. Breakfast is also a standard lineup that has a variety of types that are not complained for the time being, and I don't feel like eating morimori from the morning. Check out without the question that the route in was about this degree. The shuttle is 3 flight to Sapporo Station in the morning by advance reservation system, but it seems that the basic location is targeting people who move by car.
