We had an amazing stay here. We came as a group of 7 and Zizi the host was absolutely lovely and made us all so welcome. The family dinner is delicious and they offered us all lots of rice wine with it. The location is beautiful and the rooms are great for how much you pay. We did a trek with a local guide provided through the homestay and it was great and the guides speak great English which made asking questions and learning about the Hmong people much easier. One thing to note is this is a slight way out of sapa so consider a taxi or a 4hr hike if you like a walk! The walls are quite thin in the rooms so earplugs are a must but nothing you wouldn’t expect when staying with shared rooms etc.

Found the Hmong Sister house after briefly researching local guides to take two of us on a hike around the Sa Pa area. I had few expectations for the hike, beyond hoping to see some stunning scenery - which we did! - the hills and rice paddies in the Lao Cai area are a sight to behold. We sent the sisters a WhatsApp the evening before, and they swiftly replied and arranged to pick us up at our preferred time the next day. Our fantastic guide, Bam, picked us up from our hotel and we walked through Sa Pa town to the start of our hike. It was a bit of a challenge at first - it had rained the night before, so descending a muddy forested hill was slippery to say the least - but the sun soon came out and we saw some of the best views Vietnam has to offer. Bam answered all of our questions about the local area and was very patient when we were taking the hike quite slowly! The "bamboo trek" (which was the hiking option we chose) took about 4 hours. It is very accessible for anyone who is capable of long walks, but do wear some proper boots! Our hike ended with the best pho we had eaten during our entire time in Vietnam at a Hmong-owned restaurant! Bam then kindly ordered a taxi to take us back to our hotel. Overall, a fantastic experience and a memory I will treasure for a very long time! Thank you again to the sisters, and particularly Bam!

In the Buffalo Trek in Sapa with my family, and it was truly a life-changing experience. Our trekking guide, Chili, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and made sure that we were safe and comfortable throughout the entire trek. On day one, we trekked through the villages, mountains, and valleys of Sapa. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and we felt completely immersed in the natural atmosphere of the area. We even ventured deep into the forest, where we were the only group around. It was a surreal experience that truly made us appreciate the beauty of nature. At the end of the day, we spent the night in a house nestled among the forest. It was a cozy and warm space that allowed us to rest and recharge after a long day of trekking. We had a lot of fun playing games and talking with each other, and we truly felt like we were part of the community. On day two, Chili led us on a different route back to the homestay. Along the way, we were once again treated to stunning views of the natural beauty of Sapa. It was truly an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who visits the area. Overall, the Buffalo Trek in Sapa was a life-changing experience that allowed us to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around us. I cannot thank Chili enough for her expertise and guidance throughout the trek. If you have the chance to take part in this trek, I highly recommend it.

It was a traditional Hmong house with basic accommodation, but the beauty of the surrounding nature and the warmth of the host family more than made up for it. They taught me so much about their unique culture and even invited me to participate in some traditional Hmong activities, like embroidery and cooking. The highlight of my stay was teaching English to the local children, who were absolutely adorable. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking to experience the real Vietnam and connect with the local community.

The experience was incredible, with breathtaking nature and a glimpse into the unique Hmong culture. The homestay was basic but comfortable, and the hostess, Lily, was warm and thoughtful. Activities included exploring the surrounding area and learning about the Hmong way of life. The Hmong people are known for their embroidery and indigo dyeing techniques, which were fascinating to see. I even had the opportunity to teach English to local children, who were absolutely adorable. Overall, the stay at Hmong Sister House was unforgettable and highly recommended.
