The service was excellent, staff are very helpful and accommodating. The pool is beautiful and the views from the room are super (7th floor). The room was spacious, with a lovely clean set up. The bath was so comfortable with again a lovely view our to the sea! The area is quiet but still buzzing with new restaurants and local cafes.

Overall, the most outstanding thing is that there are many facilities for children to play and there are many shopping malls, but everything else is lackluster. First, the service can't really be improved. First of all, the hotel phone has been unable to get through. When I finally got through, I hung up the phone with all kinds of excuses. I can't understand that there are still hotels that can't make calls. Secondly, can the address of the hotel be clear? We were bringing elderly people and children with us. When we drove to the address listed on the hotel, two service staff came out. First they said they couldn't park, and they couldn't explain where they could park. When asked again, they said they were not Chinese and couldn't understand Chinese. Then one came out. , let us park the car at the back and walk through to the hotel. As a result, we walked through a long street, dragging our luggage and walking with exhausted old people and children for a long time before we found the hotel lobby. Third, the facilities in the room are also very poor. Let’s not talk about the newness and oldness. There are only two plugs. In a twin room, each person has a mobile phone and a power bank, which is not enough.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Really friendly and polite staff, one spoke english as well for Foreigners that can't speak Chinese, plus the set up for our Daughter in the family suite was very thoughtful. She had sinks she could reach, cute panda toothbrushes delivered every day, her own themed cup, toys to play with, mini robe, her own bed all though she preferred the big one haha, shoes etc. That was the greatest plus with this hotel, she absolutely loved it because of those details. The view is beautiful as well, clean but old rooms I'd say, it was worn down quite a bit so maintaining the hotel is definitely something they would have to work on. Several Restaurants close by also for online delivery. The biggest downside with this hotel is the beach unfortunately. We chose this place because of a more quiet beach, we thought the least, but the water scooters/jet skies roaming around constantly forced us to take a taxi to the busy beaches. The smell of gas was horrible and very strong when the jet skies passed by as they are driving where everyone is swimming. Very unhealthy to breathe in and they are about 6-8 of them driving by all the time, nothing I would want anyone to breathe in and it is a safety concern, they could literally drive over you anytime. Later at night when they had all left the beach it was a great place for shell picking though. The more busy beaches have set up restrictions for these water jet skies, which prohibits them from driving there, therefore next time we go to Sanya we will choose one of the hotels around Yalong or Dadonghai. You constantly hear helicopters flying as well, but you sort of get used to that.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel despite it only being for one night. The hotel was actually split into two: the hotel building where you find the lobby, restaurants and various amenities, then the hotel room complex across the road - little villa type housing with individual hotel rooms and pretty outdoor pool. The room we stayed in was spacious, if a little dated in terms of room decor. Staff were as supportive and friendly as they could be. But the hotel’s amenities (mainly the gym) were worse than expected. When we asked hotel staff where the gym was, they happily directed us to it (a couple of floors up from the lobby, on a floor that looked like it was going through renovation). It was a small fitness room that was dirty, had non-functional machines (but no word from hotel staff or signage to say not to use the machines that we could see) and no AC. I tried turning on the treadmill, only to see it go from 0-20 with a second (thankfully I wasn’t standing on it!). Bit of a shame. One thing we loved about this hotel, and the room we stayed in was the close proximity to the beach. We could walk there within a minute!

The best thing about this hotel was room service. They don't wake you up early or disturb you. Cleaning was top notch. Beach was very close so you can go there daily. Unfortunately the pool was closed and that was the amenity that i was hoping to get in.

Howard Johnson location is great, the environment is good but the hotel is old and need to be renovated. We enjoyed the inner surrounding of the hotel in the afternoons when there were less people around. Breakfast was not that great compared to the other hotels during our stay at Sanya. Also only one pool was opened and the kids pool was open during in the late morning and afternoon. The hotel is also not far from Sanya Bay, it takes around 5mins to get there.
