Our stay at the Atzavara Hotel was an uncomfortable experience.
First, the front desk operated extremely slowly. We waited at least 20 minutes both when checking in and checking out.
The most disturbing part was the discriminatory treatment from the manager. We (coincidentally the only Asian guests in the lobby) were the only party instructed to wait for a room, while dozens of other groups were permitted to enter theirs without delay. We understand the check-in time of 3 pm applies, but why were we singled out? We checked that our room type was definitely available at the time we arrived (2 pm). And when we checked out the following morning, we noticed other guests checking in and collecting their keys as early as 10:30 am. The staff promised to call us once our room was ready, yet this call never came. We had to rejoin the long queue well past the official check-in time just to get an update.
That was tolerable compared to the luggage handling, which was the worst part. The staff misplaced our luggage tags and failed to locate our belongings, so the manager asked us to enter the luggage room and search for them ourselves. After I went in, my companion tried to step inside to help me carry our heavy bags, but the manager abruptly stopped her, snapping that "only one person" was permitted inside. We fully understand the rules, and we were polite and respectful throughout, but the way this was handled was truly disturbing.
The breakfast seemed to offer a wide selection, but the quality of the food was not good.
