"Hotel is located in the city centre of Santa Cruz area which is a short walk to the beach. It is surrounded by cafe, restaurants and local stores to shop. Hotel staffs are super friendly and helpful despite our limited spanish - they will try their best to accommodate your needs and answers your questions. It costs about 40 - 50 pesos to downtown (you can choose to walk too but we find it too hot for us). Personally, we find that the area is very safe and pleasant - unlike other larger touristy city, vendors are less pushy and very respectful and give you the space to shop."

Entertainment kept us up but did end by 11 pm Food was not great since we don’t like ioriental. Breakfast was ok but all good cold. "On the whole it was a good experience. However I have been to this hotel several times but this time the food and restaurant service really disappointed me. The beach restaurant was not coping and in two separate occasions I had to wait over 1 hour to get served. They delivered the food as it came out of the kitchen and everyone had their meals at different times. On the second occasion, I waited for an hour and a half to get served very expensive lettuce with some fish. Even though the restaurant was almost empty. The staff should be honest and tell people they cannot cope for whatever reason and let customers go somewhere else. The staff just shrugged their shoulders when I raised my request of food. Perhaps this is the time to look for other hotels in the area."

"really liked the hotel itself but staff were a little overbearing, particularly male staff asking if I was by myself and if I had a boyfriend as a young female solo traveller… not cool. Also, at one point staff just walked into my room without knocking and then didn’t even apologize! Just asked if it was only me in the room and walked back out! That was crazy to me. Otherwise, pool was lovely, gardens very nice, and I like the beach club down the road"

"Villas Coral is a wonderful holiday destination for a good week. If you don't mind the fact that the beach is about a seven-minute walk from the hotel and can only enjoy the sea by looking at it, this is a great place to stay. The food at the "Miramar" restaurant is delicious and, compared to other hotels, really reasonably priced! We did have a few language barriers with the hotel staff, but they do their best to accommodate our every need. The complex was cleaned and maintained daily. We had a wonderful time there and will definitely stop by again if we come back in that direction!"

"This a both a review and information that you may find useful for Villas Fa-Sol. Through our booking site, the hotel offered one free transport from the hotel to the airport. We paid for pickup and Jordan was waiting for us when the plane landed. Jordan was our main contact while staying at Villas Fa-Sol as he spoke English and could arrange taxis, tours, etc and provide info. We stayed in the corner location on a second floor. Right outside our balcony there was a huge cactus that had iguanas living in it, so we could observe them, as well as all of the birds in the adjoining treed lot. Just so that you aware, this hotel is not located close to town, but that is one of things we liked about it. It was nice and quiet and we often had the swimming pool and the rocky beach (that has chairs) for ourselves to read or listen to the waves. Breakfast is included with your rate - each morning there was coffee, a choice of fresh juice, yogurt and granola, a small fresh fruit plate and a selection of egg dishes. The hotel sometimes serves dinner too, but not consistently. A taxi to La Crucita (downtown) is 85 pesos. Often we would walk to the entry gates (Villas Fa-Sol is in a gated community with lots of very large homes) and flag down a taxi for as little as 50 pesos. But Jordan can arrange a taxi to pick you up at the hotel any time. Options for meals include La Crucita or Santa Cruz (same price by taxi). There are also 4 or 5 restaurants 2 km away outside of the Dreams Hotel - we often walked to these restaurants. If you go the opposite direction from town, there is a small outdoor restaurant at Playa La Bocana that we ate at (short drive or half hour walk) and the best food we had was from a seafood hut at "Bunny Beach" or Bahia Conejos (20 minute walk from hotel) - grilled over a fire (if you eat at the hut, you can use the chairs and tables for free for the duration of your stay). There is a small beach about 5 minutes from the hotel through the trees next to the hotel and you can also go up and down rickety stairs at the end of the road to another calmer beach. We also walked to Togulunda Beach (shared with Dreams hotel) - which is the biggest beach we visited. We enjoyed our stay and really liked the privacy and calmness that the hotel offered."
