Extremely Poor Customer Service and Disappointing Conditions at Motel 6 Santa Barbara - State Street I stayed at the Motel 6 Santa Barbara over the weekend. My experience was ruined by terrible customer service right from arrival, combined with very poor room conditions. I arrived around noon and politely requested a ground-floor room along with early check-in. The first front desk employee was already rude. She stated there was no guaranteed early check-in and the earliest they could do was 2:15 PM. My party returned at 2:00 PM to wait. At approximately 2:20 PM, we approached the front desk. The male employee on duty (an older Latino gentleman with gray hair, dark skin, in his 50s — I later learned his first name is Jesus or Cesar) was immediately hostile. He yelled at us multiple times (5-6 times), refused to make eye contact, and treated us with clear disrespect. Even though he knew we had been waiting since before 2:15 PM, he tried to help another guest who arrived after us instead of serving us first. When I calmly mentioned that we had been waiting nearly 30 minutes and should have priority, he yelled at me again. Other customers in the lobby were visibly shaking their heads in disbelief at his behavior. I asked him to stop yelling at me and suggested he apologize for treating a paying customer so poorly. He refused to apologize and continued being rude and rushed. When I asked for his name to report the incident, he would not provide it. Beyond the horrible service, the room itself was a major disappointment. The room was extremely compact and tight with barely any space to move. There was no microwave and no refrigerator, even though I clearly remember this property having both when it first opened years ago. The bathroom was dirty with stains everywhere. The entire place was very loud with noise coming from all sides and directions. In the morning, there was no continental breakfast at all — just coffee. Overall, the conditions felt run-down and far below what I expected. This level of hostility from staff, combined with the poor room quality and lack of basic amenities, is completely unacceptable. As someone who previously worked in the hotel industry and 3 different hotels in Santa Barbara including the DoubleTree as a front desk agent. I understand basic operations, but nothing justifies yelling at guests or providing such substandard conditions.

The location of the model is perfect. It puts you really close to the attractions. The pool is also good.

Motel 6 is a chain brand. There are three in Santa Barbara. Please check the address when booking. I made the mistake of booking this one. I drove to the beach ten kilometers away and found out I had made the mistake. Overall the rooms are quite decent, a little compact but have all the necessary facilities. It takes about ten minutes to drive to the beach. There is free hot water and instant coffee at the front desk. There is plenty of parking space for each room and there is a swimming pool.

This hotel is very bad. Not only is it expensive but the service is poor, there is no shampoo.
