this was our first visit to friday harbor. we walked on the ferry so needed a hotel a short walk from the ferry terminal. we selected the friday harbor house and also a ”non-view” room as it was over $450 per night all in. first, the good things about the property. the staff is great. very nice, helpful...want you to have a great experience. we found this at the front desk, restaurant and the fellow that repairs things in your room. the on sight restaurant for dinner was quite. imaginative well prepared food with friendly service at the table and in the bar. only downside to the restaurant is the wine list has a very poor selection of quality white wines list and by the glass that are current in their vintage year, i.e. fresh. the location of the property is excellent to get around downtown and to and from the ferry. second, the unfortunate piece about the hotel is the rooms. i travelled all over the world for business and pleasure and do not recall every getting so little in the way of a room for so much. small room, noisy location, portable swamp cooler for heat and air conditioning located on the floor near the bed, foam filled pillows versus feathered pillows...for this kind of money this is just ridiculous. the only reason my review was average versus poor was the staff and the restaurant.

I didn’t come with high expectations. But The Orcas Inn definitely met my expectations! If you’re looking for inexpensive accommodations in San Juan island, I would recommend The Orcas Inn. Staff were friendly. The rooms are small, but adequate. We spent our time enjoying the island! Be sure I visit 🦊 family while you’re here at Cattle Point Lighthouse.
