Baldi Hot Springs Hotel & Spa
4.2/5105 Reviews
Amazing amazing amazing! I want to go back already! Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!
Hotel Arenal Lodge
4.1/5100 Reviews
My husband and I visited here 15 years ago. We loved it so much that we brought our entire family of 15 here to experience the area and this incredible lodge. The lodge is an authentic open air design with beautiful wood timbers. The pool and hot tubs have great views. We rented the chalets that have a majestic view of the volcano. To awaken to that view is spiritual! The owners are lovely and most accommodating. Freddy trained in Culinary School in France so every meal was exceptional. His wife is lovely….she embodies the spirit of Arenal Lodge. I cannot say enough about the staff at Arenal Lodge. They are very eager to please and friendly. There is no way to describe the setting for this lodge. The rainforest adorns it and becomes part of it. We had children with us and they were welcomed to entertain themselves with board games, fusball and pool. This experience is just what I dreamed of when returning with our family!

Hotel Magic Mountain Spa & Conference Center
4.2/5103 Reviews
My tour operator booked me at Magic Mountain for the weekend on the last part of my trip after I came from Monteverde by ferry in Lake Arenal. The receptionists for all the days were great to me and helpful. My room was taken care of each day. A fridge was available to keep my drinks cold. The room had air conditioning when you need to turn it on. The bathroom had what I needed in fresh towels and a hair dryer, but my one criticism which I already let the receptionist know on my last day is that there needs to be a soap/shampoo/conditioner rack or holder in the shower as the only place to put these items is either on the floor or in a window ledge above you which is not ideal. The balcony view of the back of the hotel was really something when you can see Arenal Volcano in the background on clear days. The swimming pool area (with a bar right beside it) and hot tubs were nice to relax if you were not going out and wanted to hang around the hotel. Their restaurant is a nice place to eat if you did not want to go out, but at least the breakfast choices and service such as asking for a chef to make custom omelettes were very good. I think that sums up what I remember since a week ago. I can say overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
Hotel Mountain Paradise

Hotel Mountain Paradise is getting a mixed review from our family. When booking directly through the hotel website, be aware that you will be charged the entire amount of your stay at the time of booking. We tried to modify our reservation three weeks prior to arrival by emailing the reservation email as directed on the website. We were simply reducing the number of nights from three down to two, understanding we would have a 30% penalty based on proximity to our stay. This change had not been made when we arrived and we were told when we checked in that they would look into it. Even at checkout they were still ”looking into it with accounting” and told us to contact them via What's App. It has now been two weeks since we were there and they still have not refunded us for our cancelled night (of two rooms as we are a family of five). In addition they have stopped responding to our What's App inquiries. We had to alter a reservation at another hotel during our planning process and we had no problem doing this via email with their front desk. It's unfortunate that this is a black cloud over our stay here. The grounds are lovely and peaceful but we agree with other reviews that some general maintenance and upkeep are needed- if you aren't going to maintain a frog pond, just remove the signs and guests would be none the wiser. Instead upon following signs, guests find an overgrown, algae-filled pool. Be sure to look up, though, and you might see a sloth in the trees above. The view of the Arenal Volcano from our veranda was perfect. Our rooms were clean and we appreciated the in-room coffee maker so we could enjoy the morning view with a cup of coffee before heading to breakfast. The restaurant staff was very friendly. Front desk staff was helpful arranging cabs into town. We loved our time in Costa Rica only wish our booking modification could have been handled differently.
