Hotel le Mas Saint Joseph

This hotel is charming with a lovely pool and a pleasant ambience. The rooms are large and with a fridge but no kettle. There is a single pillow. The owner appears welcoming but, as we say in Scotland, ‘it’s her way or no way’! Don’t move a table a metre to be in the sun (despite there being no-one else there!), fruit is provided in a tiny bowl (which sometimes has to be asked for), not possible to have 2 (small) boiled eggs, one needs to confirm breakfast the previous evening and then is told where to sit despite the table not being set. Just unwelcoming and controlling. Chantal says ‘just ask if you need anything’ but it’s a regime she operates! I don’t think she realises how unfriendly her manner is as she asked us if we would come back! I just walked away with a smile! Quelle domage because the facilities are lovely. (We then moved to a similarly-priced hotel in Arles (La Muette) and the service was warm and friendly - such a contrast)!

We had a wonderful stay in Le Mas Saint Joseph in Saint Rémy. The owner, Mme Chantal, has built here a little paradise, cozy, calm, a great place to relax. We already miss being there ( and just left this morning) and promise to be back soon. A bientôt and thank you to Chantal.

A charming small hotel that exceeded expectations. The owner was pleasant and helpful. Rooms are small but well appointed. Six minute walk into town.

We enjoyed our stay here. Chantelle is a helpful, responsive, proactive host. Parking is easy, breakfast is good, the pool is pleasant. The historic centre of town is a short walk away up a busy road. There is a nice restaurant, Le Moulin de Sophie, across the road nearby. We enjoyed the town, the Van Gogh walk, and visited the wonderful Carrieres des Lumieres, which is a scenic drive away.

Really nice and quiet hotel within an easy walk of the old town area of St Remy. The rooms are sized well, and the pool area is really pleasant. The owner/operator was very nice and helpful also!

I am not used to writing poor reviews but feel we should warn other travellers about this hotel. The proprietor is the most awful woman and makes the experience truly hideous. We couldn't get out of her hotel fast enough and would never return. Read the lowest ratings on this place and multiply them by 100! There are plenty of lovely hotels in St Remy so choose another would be our advice.

We do however believe it was Chantelle’s intention to give us great service.

Absolutely loved our stay here, beautiful location, perfect hostess and lovely rooms! Would love to visit again 🥰 We stayed in a family room which was perfect, very clean with coffee facilities. There is a supermarket on the doorstep and lots of lovely restaurants and bars a 10 minute walk away.

Beautiful property, from the dining and lounge areas (both inside and outside) to the flowers and pool area. Very nice room with a view and a table and chairs to sit outside. The bed was literally one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. My only suggestion would be a small refrigerator to keep your bottled water and wine cold. It didn’t bother me that there was no coffee in the room (usually instant anyway) because the coffee at breakfast was sooo good. And speaking of the breakfast, excellent! I would highly recommend adding on the breakfast as it will be far better than anything you’ll get in town. It was lovely to sit on the patio every morning and have a leisurely breakfast to start the day. The owner and host, Chantel, was so nice (even loaned me her umbrella, as I arrived during a downpour). Chantel would greet everyone as if they were old friends, ask if they slept well and made you feel like you were truly a guest in her home. How wonderful to see a business run by a strong woman who knows how to treat people people with kindness and respect. I will absolutely stay here again!
