Domus Ester

Stayed here for two nights while visiting the city. The place is not that easy to find and when you find it you do think twice as the hotel is down an alleyway and the door looks pretty grim. Check in was simple and easy and the lady was very helpful taking us to our room which was on the first floor of three. The room was great and a lot better than we expected for the price we paid, it was clean and well kept as was the shower room. The room was cleaned and re-set after our first day which we probably were not expecting. Location is great and about ten minutes away from all the main attractions. Can understand while people give here a low score and a bad review as there are many people out there who want to pay for Primark and get Gucci !. For what we paid we thought this was brilliant, get over the entrance and enjoy the beautiful city

We paid about 60euros/night for this place. For this price this was an amazing deal, we didn’t have to use taxis and transit at all. So convenient and walkable to pretty much all famous places in Roma. Staff was wonderful, Alicia helped us with great recommendations and helped us with our luggage. I saw few bad reviews for no elevators on site, they have clearly stated on the booking information, so I don’t why people give bad reviews for this. This is why for the price we paid, this was an awesome deal. Staff cleaned the rooms well and were friendly with instructions, very responsive and clear directions for getting to the property. They provided us with places to visit and a map with instructions. We will stay again if we come back to Rome. Thank you staff!!

What worked: * Customer service - the staff friendly and accommodating * Location - it was easy to reach the main sights from the hotel * Cleanliness - the room was always clean. The room had also been recently renovated What didn't work so well: * Noise - the walls felt paper thin and you could literally see light through the door (needs some insulation) * Accessibility - as there was no elevator, the hotel wouldn't work for someone with poor legs * Temperature control - it was possible to heat the room but not to cool it (or we didn't figure it out). Lack of proper window outside didn't help. If you can deal with the limitations, the hotel can be a good choice.

Great location- 20-30 minute walk to all major sites and 10 minutes to the best food area in the city (Trast). Simple accommodations exactly as advertised. I’d recommend this to someone looking for a central location for a reasonable price!

Room was clean with fresh towels but super tiny as well. My wife and I bumped into each other a lot because it was so small lol. They did a good job of cleaning it daily as well which was nice. Shower was really good but water was clogging a lot unfortunately but we aren't too picky so we didn't mind it. Location was absolutely perfect - it was easily walkable to all the main attractions in Rome! Great restaurants and shops nearby as well. Only the train station was for so we had to uber as we were headed to Amalfi. Staff was friendly and always available if we needed them - it helps that they provide their WhatsApp as well. It isn't an easy hotel to find but thankfully a local helped us find it when we arrived. They should put up some better signage! I would say their pricing is also very competitive so despite being a tiny room we felt it was worth the cost especially because Rome is generally expensive as it is when it comes to hotels. We wouldn't mind staying here again in the future!

Hard to find hotel entrance. Stair climb to check-in and room carrying luggage. Very noisy; you can hear every noise that other guests are making including baby screaming at midnight (every night)

Rooms have all been remodelled and are very nice, they need to maybe put some money into the entry way stairs as when we arrived we almost cancelled and found another hotel to stay in as we had one look and pretty much went we don’t wanna stay here. When we got the room it was much better! Just the entry way and stair well is very off putting! The rooms themself are great they had lots of room for bags etc they were clean and got cleaned each day. The location wasn’t too bad it didn’t feel to far from things it was an easy enough walk. The staff were all great at helping us organise taxi’s etc.

It’s was okay for a busy Hotel that is central and close to everything. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. It’s difficult to identify as the signage outside is very poor. Exteriodearepqir

Fantastic location and price point. There's so many complaints on here - my friends, if you are paying a budget price do not expect a 5 star experience in one of the most expensive tourist locations in the world. Domus Ester is an extremely fair experience. Yes, the room is small, yes, you might have to wait a few minutes for the water to get hot, and yes, you need to pay extra for cleaning if you want it. But in return you get a hotel in the middle of Rome for a bargain. Donna was the main service desk person who helped us and she was extremely helpful and kind. (Main reason I am writing this review) I highly recommend Domus Ester and will be booking again the next time I visit Rome.
