Hotels near Santos Dumont Airport, Rio de Janeiro

The room was clean, the only problem I had with the door knob, but no big deal, my problem was the people at the front desk, they made me wait because they were either on the phone or the computer or talking to each other. They didn’t acknowledge me immediately when I arrived, they need to be trained better for hospitality, I was standing in front of them for 5 min or more and they wouldn’t bother to say please give me a minute, nothing that is not the way it was rude. Every agent did the same. They were friendly after but not aware of the time they made me wait when there wa no line, the supervisor was next to the agent and DID nothing either.

The price is great for the cost / benefit! Hotel is VERY well located, however the structure of the hotel leaves something to be desired, but the rooms and bathrooms are great! clean, spacious, organized and bright! Dinner is great, breakfast is Ok! Worth it for the price and location!

O hotel possui um ótimo custo-benefício para quem está de passagem e vai ficar poucos dias. Fiquei apenas uma noite. Em se tratando do Centro do Rio de Janeiro, fica bem localizado. Próximo ao aeroporto, que era o que eu queria. Na hora de fazer o check in e pagar a estadia a recepcionista iria cobrar um valor mais alto do que o que eu havia fechado no booking. Mostrei o aplicativo para ela e ela então cobrou o valor certo. Contudo isso não foi o que eu menos gostei, na verdade nem me incomodou. O quarto estava com muito cheiro de água sanitária, ficamos com receio porque sou asmática e o cheiro forte me dá crise. Mas colocamos as coisas no quarto, ligamos o ar no mínimo, deixamos a janela aberta para amenizar o cheiro e saímos (e isso funcionou). A parte do banheiro que fica o vaso sanitário é minúscula. Meu namorado é alto e teve que usar o banheiro de porta aberta, de tão pequeno que era o espaço. Apesar da localização ser bem no Centro, o que é ótimo e prático durante o dia, na parte da noite não achamos nada seguro. Preferimos não andar por lá e pedir um lanche pelo ifood. Já havia me hospedado no Ibis Budget de Copacabana e a experiência foi ótima, não teve nenhum problema, por isso não pensei duas vezes na hora de ter escolhido esse. We stayed for three nights and ate in the “Opera” restaurant in the hotel. The room was quite large, with an enormous comfortable bed. Very clean and tidy hotel. On the roof terrace there is a bar for drinks and snacks and a small swimming pool. From the terrace you can see the Sugar Loaf Mountain and also Christ the Redeemer statue. The food in the restaurant was of a very good standard delivered by friendly staff, who helped us through our pathetic portuguese. Each night during the week they have a chef’s special. On Wednesday they had roast duck, which was superb. The breakfast has nearly everything you need, both hot and cold. It is situated in the centre of Rio, at Cinelandia, which is perfect for the metro, buses and trams. Highly recommended!

I was hosted in this hotel last weekend - 02 to 03/07/2022. I have contacted me, and Mrs Vanessa has answered me, she kept the forgotten pieces, and the next day she sent me for Sedex with great delight and sympathy, and I would like to congratulate her on the sensitivity and empathy shown by that person. All the staff very careful and efficient.

I actually had 2 comfortable nights at this hotel but their website just kept on charging my credit card over and over. Thankfully, it showed up on my phone, so I was able to inform the staff and show them the receipt at the time. A very helpful front receptionist said he would contact the finance department and that when I checked out early the next morning' it would all have been rectified. When I went to reception, no one could help and I was told to wait for the manager who would be on duty after my flight left..... So far, no response from this hotel and no money back.I've contacted my credit card provider and so I now have to battle to get my money back. My experience of checking in was in I’m afraid to say, truly awful. I arrived at 5am and the older gentleman checking me in was ignorant. Apparently, he was the ‘English speaker’ on duty and he completely ignored me when I asked a question. I received no information whatsoever about breakfast times, where facilities in the hotel were and he didn’t even have the good manners to look up at me when I checked in, he just opened his hand for my passport. He started huffing and getting obviously irritated when I asked if it were possible to arrange a later breakfast as I wouldn’t be getting to bed u TIL 6am, despite having to pay for the hotel for the night before. The guy actually just ignored me until I asked him directly and he didn’t even look up and said ‘no’ in a really annoyed manner. Great customer service, thanks! Thankfully, when I had need to speak to reception staff during the day, this was a much better experience. I spoke to a young woman and on another occasion a young uni man who were friendly and helpful, so much so, I decided to stay again on my return trip the following week. That was up until they kept charging my credit card, firstly through the own hotels website that said the transaction failed but charged the credit card and then again when duplicate monies had been charged by the hotel. Mistakes happen. It it how quickly and satisfactorily they are sorted that makes the difference between staying there again and avoiding it. Would I recommend staying here? Yes, breakfast is good and the hotel was clean and quiet on the 19th floor. It is dated and could do with updating but it is not bad value when they don’t empty your bank account! Just pay in cash if you’re staying there and avoid that nasty old man on reception who works at night.

Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, beautiful decoration, lovely rooftop bar. The only ”problem” I could mention is that the hotel is located in front of a very busy street and it can be quite noisy from early morning till very late at night - I'd recommend talking to staff prior booking if you need silence. The hotel also owns a SPA, small cinema, library and many other intersting common areas, and offered yoga classes twice a day during my stay. Really, really nice! Lapa does seem dodgy and it can be dangerous. Usually there are cops around as the neighbourhood is quite famous for Selarón Staircase, bars and music venues. As a local, I'd say: mind your surroundings, avoid showing off cellphones and jewls, and pick up a Uber if you feel insecure! In general, Selina is located in a very central area with buses and subway (~10min walk).

My first 3 days were horrible because they left me in the 3rd floor apt 307 horrible mopho smell, shower with problem that burned me, dirty bed that gave me allergy coffee only cheese bread and sown only, Then they put me in the larger room that was less worse the air was completely dirty and no wet ice cream all the room.

Wonderful hotel, sensational room with very comfortable bed. The hotel pool is small but met expectations. Breakfast was good but the time I went was very busy. Great accommodation option in the center of Rio. Close to the main bars in Lapa.

We live near Rio, if we are going out for a night in Rio or taking Friends out this is where we stay! We book two rooms, One for us one for the nanny and children ! Spend the day by the beautiful pool, then walk the 5 minutes to the centre of Lapa in the evening! Its a fairly ”adult” hotel, but its suits us because of the location and the babies love the pool ! I would recommend staying here one or two nights to experience the nightlife, Spanish steps and the local vibe ! Breakfast is good but the ”oasis” factor is the big deal ! Downsides, checkin can be slow, but they promise me they are working on that, and for the price which is an absolute bargain most of the time makes this a no brainer ! The rooms by the pool are perfect and worth the little extra, the staff are great! I stay here once a month and cant recommend it highly enough ! Of course you get what you pay for, there is no parking, and it can get busy, but as someone who stays in hotels a lot, I recommend this as literally an oasis in the centre of the party district ! And its great value for money !
