For my first time in Rio, I chose to stay at Villa Paranaguá Hotel & Spa, and it was such an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they truly made my stay unforgettable. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and very spacious, and the breakfast was also great. Thank you again to the whole team I will definitely be back! A special shoutout to Clara, Fabio, and especially Fabrício for the best caipirinhas and for being such a wonderful tour guide.

A beautiful boutique hotel tucked away in one of Rio’s most traditional neighborhoods, Santa Teresa. Once a private residence, it has been carefully transformed into an intimate and luxurious retreat with only ten rooms. The property is lush and tranquil, with plenty of greenery, a serene pool, and an atmosphere of complete peace and quiet. The highlight for me was the room—spacious, elegantly decorated, and offering a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain. The food is excellent as well, with breakfast standing out as one of the best I’ve ever had. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for first-time visitors to Rio, as it’s far from the city’s main tourist attractions. This is a place to slow down, unwind, and escape the energy and chaos of Rio. For those seeking serenity and charm, it’s truly a fabulous option.

We have just returned from a truly amazing 9 days at Villa Paranagua - an immaculate boutique hotel with interesting history and decorated to a high standard. But what made our holiday even more memorable were the staff who went above and beyond. A huge thank you to Pablo, Dominica, Orione and Fabricio who were truly amazing and so helpful - thank you from Sam and Paula

Stayed here for 3 nights on a family trip and can honestly say we loved it! Great staff, a superb restoration of a historic building obviously done by people with impeccable taste, quirky yet stylish. Location is quiet (hard to do in Rio) and is an oasis in a wonderful crazy city. If I go back to Rio then it would definitely be at the top of the list!

It has been a year since we visited Villa Paranaguá and it still brings up bittersweet memories. A perfectly serene boutique hotel in the Santa Teresa district stripped down to the max. You will find everything you need to spend a few blissful days there without having to leave this place. The pool is perfect, the menu is well assorted, the drinks are delicious, the library is inspiring, the interior design is a delight ..., but the heart of this beautiful place is the people who work there and who have grown so dear to us in a few days that we can no longer forget them. I know that one day there will be a return. And then we will celebrate that.

we’ve changed several hotels during our stay in Rio and this was by far the worst. -first, the service is way below average, we felt quite unwelcome, -secondly the location is very unpleasant- its in a dirty and scary area , where we felt very uneasy to walk around. - also, the food was very strange to our taste. we just wanted to leave as soon as possible and felt releived to move to a much better hotel. We feel the rating of this hotel is absolutely unjustified and does not reflect the quality of the stay. We hope other toursits will not fall into the same trap as we did with this overrated hotel.

-very ackward and uncomfartable place. -located in a dark, dangerous area, surrounded with fences with barbed wire. -uber drivers refusing to take you there because its close to favella. -at night dogs barking will keep you up. -unfriendly and annoying receptionist I’ve stayed in so many hotels - this is definetely one of the worst.

Everything is absolutely perfect: welcome, cleanliness, kindness, decoration, catering... One downside: no television to fill the long evenings (sunset very early) and the area is difficult to get around at night even if it is very lively and a must-visit during the day.

We were charged 600 euros for an extra bed on an uncomfortable end of the sofa in front of a window without curtains or blinds, in the morning we woke up at 5:30 a.m....! No wifi that works properly in the whole house The industrial kitchen is only Italian cuisine, there is nothing Brazilian in this house located in a sordid neighborhood with zombies everywhere the surrounding neighborhood is dirty and far from major centers of interest They don't say hello to you when you arrive and even less when you leave...! House run by French people in need of money who improvise as hoteliers Breton pancakes for breakfast resembling frozen products, pastries are meticulously counted, you have to wait an hour to be served No explanation for finding your way around the city. The pool water is dirty and the towels are rough like carpets..! It's difficult to get a taxi because the house is at the top of a hill, you have to climb 800 steps of a steep staircase to get there and there are homeless people everywhere in the neighborhood French music French cuisine French decoration French owners who imagine themselves director of a 5 star palace for 2 balls..! The staff is completely incompetent and does not understand anything because they do not speak English or French, the owners do not provide service they spend their time taking care of their friends who are there and who take pleasure in passing themselves off as VIP customers...! Their friends or family are obviously more important than the tourists who pay the full price..! You have to have booked when these people do not have guests.. They sent us to a botanical garden without any interest 45 minutes away by taxi.. My wife and daughter were very unhappy to have had to deal with these ironic and execrable people. I advise these apprentice hoteliers to invest in a hardware store rather than receiving tourists to rip them off.
