Everything was more than perfect. We got a small room upgrade, a nice gesture. The hotel is well located, the rooms (apartment) are large, very clean and very well equipped. On the 4th floor no problem with the road below. Same with the swimming pool which is great. Bar available during the day. Barbecue evening every Wednesday evening is very cool. ALL the staff are super nice and competent. The SPA is perfect, Mariana is super attentive and super professional. Great stay at Macaris 👍👍

I’d booked a 1bed apartment at La Stella in January 2022 for a 5-night stay in August. We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of Friday morning - the main door was unlocked, and we found an envelope with our name, key card, and directions to our room on the front desk. As soon as we entered room 106, I knew it was not the room I had booked. Instead, it was an exceedingly small studio. Given the time, lack of staff presence and after travelling for hours with a toddler, we didn't see much option and decided to sleep in the room we'd been given. The next morning, I went to reception to resolve this issue and found myself in a queue behind a family who had also arrived when we did to a room they had not booked and was far too small for their needs. When I spoke to a member staff, I was told I'd need to wait for the manager to arrive. When the manager finally arrived, he informed me that the hotel was at capacity as it was high season, but that they would move us to a bigger room the next day (Saturday) and I should return to reception after 4pm to confirm this with whoever would be working then. When I returned after 4pm, I met a member of staff called Babbis - a man not cut out for the world of hospitality. Rude, unempathetic and incredibly unhelpful. He had no knowledge of the conversation I had had earlier that day with the manager and proceeded to tell me we would have to remain in the studio and receive the difference in the room rates back. When I tried to explain that I had been planning this trip for a year and that our treatment since our arrival had been unreasonable and unsatisfactory, he did not even batter an eyelid. I decided to follow things up by email, so I had a paper trail of all communication with the management team. They confirmed that we would not be able to move rooms on Saturday (bear in mind check-in was Thursday and we were only to be there for 5 nights) but that a room would be available on Sunday. On Sunday morning I went to reception to enquire about moving rooms and was taken to what should have been our new room but was beyond disappointed to find that it was too not the room that I had booked 8 months prior. At this point I was deflated, frustrated, and upset. I insisted that they find us a room or refund us our money as this whole situation was impacting on the enjoyment of our stay. And not only that, there was very little in the way of an apology and no sign of compensation given the fact that we were the ones affected by all of this. After making it abundantly clear what my position was, after 90mins I was shown to a room that my family and I moved into, 3 days after our arrival date. Errors can happen but the manner in which they are dealt with is of the utmost importance. I feel that La Stella are in the business of making money (given the amount of people I met who experienced something similar to us) and not providing a quality customer experience for all. This is an exceptional hotel, it can be highly recommended. My wife and I stayed there for a week in September. Firstly, the rooms are first class and the location is ideal and comes with a private beach. Secondly, i cannot praise the staff enough. There is nothing they will not do to ensure you enjoy your stay. Everyone is always smiling and welcoming such a great team. In conclusion if you ever get the opportunity to stay here, take it with both hands you will not be disappointed.

First of all we did not expect this quality from Greece. They exceeded everything. We had a room the opposite side of the road behind the main building, but it was very comfortable. May be because our 11 years old boy and the family rooms are there. The room was excellent with view to the pool, shower with modern bathroom. Separated room for the kid, fridge, tv all you need. The meals are very good, every evening enterteinment with locals. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Worth the price and would go again any time!!Beautiful hotel to be.

We stay at this hotel every time we visit the town of Rethymno, since it opened in 2017. I can honestly say that we wouldn't stay in another hotel in Rethymno, it is only Menta for us. Clean and spacious rooms, extremely friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast buffet is just divine! Not to mention that the breakfast room offers a bird's eye view to the whole of the city! The location is also extremely convenient, only 10 minutes walk downhill to the city centre and very close to the exit on the national road as well (just a 3 minute drive). I would highly recommend this hotel whether you are travelling for buisiness or pleasure!

The hotel is pleasantly located by the sea, 30 minutes walk from the port, with a pretty garden. The swimming pools are very pleasant and the deckchairs comfortable. The staff is pleasant, smiling, but not up to standard for a hotel of this standard. Training problems are obvious: tables not necessarily cleared, non-compliance with orders. The rooms were not cleaned very well, and often we had to ask reception to have it corrected. I regret having paid extra for a suite, whereas with a classic sea view room the view was much more beautiful, and the facilities of the classic room were better: my terrace lacked something to put wet clothes on for to dry them, in the bathroom no shelf to put things on, it's really problematic for an establishment of this standard. Just like in the wardrobe, it was impossible to put the clothes down, I had to leave them on the desk even though there was a lot of empty space that could have been used as a shelf. This is not normal. The valet parking service is appreciable. Overall I am satisfied with my stay, but you have to be careful, because the price is high and the services are not necessarily up to par.
