Archipelagos Hotel

Many thanks from our hole family to the hotel Archipelagos staff. You made our holiday perfect. We really loved the view, hotel breakfast and our room, which was modern and big enough for all 4 of us. We felt very welcomed. Many hugs from Finland to the hotel staff. We will come back.

We went here with our kids in July 2022 (sorry it took me so long to write this review, lots to do...), and we were positively surprised about this hotel. It's a family-owned place, where the owners take care of it by themselves, which is why the level of attention and quality is not to be compared with typical chain hotels. The room was renovated and had a very modern touch. The sea view was simply mind blowing. Breakfasts were good, even though the variety is rather small, but that's okay :) Across the hotel there is a small cozy beach, which is perfect for families with children (the water is shallow here). From this place it's technically possible to get to Rethymno old town on foot, though a taxi would be quicker and more practical, especially when it's hot. All in all we loved the experience. Efparisto! :)

What a fantastic hotel! If I could give it 6* I would. About an hour from Chania airport by taxi, only a 15-20min walk from Rethymno old town. The views from the hotel are simply beautiful. We stayed in a superior sea view room (810) and would come back in a heartbeat. The rooms were modern and kept very clean. Never have I stayed somewhere with such a view! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff must work very hard as our room was spotless during our whole stay. Andreas at the bar made great food and even better cocktails, so it was a slight shame the pool bar closed partway through our stay, although completely understandable due to the season being practically over and not many guests at the hotel. The weather during the 2nd week of October was great and allowed us to have some gorgeous days out (I know this isn’t anything to do with the hotel but before I came I was searching reviews to see if I could get an idea of what the weather would be like at this time of year, and we had a couple of warm slightly overcast mornings but overall sun and 22 to 27 degrees, clear skies). The pool is lovely and refreshing and the sea in front of the hotel is divine. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the shower was excellent! The only tiny downside I can possibly think of was that there wasn’t a great choice for breakfast (I would suggest perhaps fresh fruit to go with yoghurt or some nuts maybe?) but it had enough for my husband and I to have a snack before exploring. Again this could be down to it being the end of the season? Rethymno old town is magic, we ate there most evenings (would recommend To Pigadi, To Parastratima & Castelo especially!), there is also a lovely gyros place/grill about 9 mins walk left of the hotel called Peppers, and when the pool bar had closed and we wanted a quick lunch we found a nice bakery/cafe 5 mins left also, Noulis. Overall we had a truly fantastic stay at this hotel and would love to come again! Thanks to all the team at Archipelagos

Stayed here last week. The views are amazing we were in a superior room on the 8th floor. Lovely view of the old town snd certain sea. The room was large with all the amenities you might need if you would like to make tea, coffee and light snacks. Beds were comfortable with a good shower. We also almost had exclusive use of a plunge pool outside our room. The pool is a good size and a welcome relief from the heat. Across the road is a lovely sheltered beach which we swam in most days. The old town is a short 15 minute walk or quick taxi ride. All the staff at this hotel cannot do enough for you. Andreas at the pool bar works tirelessly on his own to provide drinks and food of a high standard. The hotel is also spotless, with a buffet style breakfast that is adequate. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Amazing hotel, perfect clean room, we got the best one on 9th floor with huge balcony, amazing views. Beds are comfortable, great shower, rooms are spotlessly clean. Nice buffet breakfast. Waking distance (about 20 min ) to Rethymno old town. Some nice restaurants within 10 min walking distance. Plenty of parking space available in front of hotel. We loved our stay !

Great place to stay at rethymno. Rooms were clean and spacious. The views from the pool was spectacular. There was a nice beach in front of the hotel. The service and hospitality of the owners/stuff was excellent. All needs were fullfilled. We even got two bikes to borrow.

The exellence of the service and kindness of the hotel management and staff are only the beginning of the great experience that my partner and I enjoyed. The sea-facing studio was a good size with plenty of storage for our clothing. The studio had a really good fridge and enough food preparation facilities for us to enjoy a light meal in the room, rather than rely on the nearby restaurants. The town was only a 15 minute walk away, and the bus (€1 ticket) service from the town was easy to use. The simple breakfasts were more than enough with appropriately healthy choices like omlettes and yoghurt and fruit. Every bit of the hotel was beautifully clean and well-maintained and the pool was absolutely sparkling. Thanks again to the supremely helpful management, who dealt with a minor medical issue with kindness and efficiency. I would happily spend the whole summer at this hotel!

Mixed feelings about our stay in this hotel. We stayed for 8 nights from 5th September and we stayed in a superior apartment with seaview. We felt a little lied to with the description of this room. Yes the room was spacious but it looked nothing like what was advertised. It also had one of the smallest balconys in the hotel which is really disappointing when this room was described as having one of the largest. The views are fantastic and the cleaning staff do a great job in the hotel. Rooms and the entire hotel is cleaned top to bottom every day. The hotel is really peaceful and this meant there was always space round the pool (although it was cloudy most of the week). The breakfast left a lot to be desired. Might be one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had in a hotel on holiday. We gave it a try a couple of times and just gave up on it. Stelios and the staff were always really helpful and are happy to assist, whether it's phoning a taxi or planning a trip. Couple of negatives - We did see a couple of cockroaches round the hotel during the week (the hotel is really clean so probably not their fault). The bar service can also be a little slow at times - The man at the bar is lovely and seems to be one of the hardest workers in the hotel so this is no reflection on him. I think he could do with some assistance at times though. There's plenty to do nearby and the old town is full of really nice restaurants. There's also a lake nearby where you can hire a pedalo for €10 an hour and can see turtles swimming in the lake. Overall we had a pleasant stay. I think the room was a massive let down for us and the breakfast is terrible which is why I haven't rated higher

A new favorite for us in the Rethymno area. It is a little bit of a walk to the old town but the convenience of parking and walking was worth it for us. The hotel is clean, everyone was friendly, the breakfast was delicious and the views were amazing! We will be back again next year for a longer stay!
