Garner Hotel READING CITY CENTRE by IHG

Modern rooms, a 10-minute walk from Reading Train Station. The breakfast was excellent, especially the hot food – the bacon was particularly crispy. The room's color scheme was pleasant. The only downside was the poor soundproofing; the sound of doors opening in other rooms and people walking in the hallway felt like it was happening in my own room, which was a bit unsettling.

Excellent service! The email inquiries were answered quickly and politely with great assistance. The hotel room was spacious, comfortable, bright, and very clean! Having air conditioning was a lifesaver 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻✨✨✨✨✨. The only thing to note is that there's no elevator, so you'll have to use the stairs.

Extremely clean, spacious room, got an upgrade. Very safe, staff are excellent, and there's air conditioning!!! Highly recommended, and it's new! The only downside was not seeing an elevator 🛗; if you have a lot of luggage, you can request a lower floor. Very quiet.

🌟 **Highly Recommend! (4 Big Pros)** **Prime Location:** Only a 6-minute walk from Reading Station! This distance was a lifesaver for me, traveling with a whole family, big luggage, and three kids. **Suburban Hub:** It's just over 20 minutes by train to Oxford, and very close to the stunning Cotswolds. This is the perfect alternative to save on expensive London accommodation. **Amenities Galore:** Within walking distance of the hotel, you'll find local historical sites, museums, and several large parks, which are super convenient for letting the kids burn off energy. **Dream Trip Enabler:** The overall convenience made our dream European trip incredibly smooth; we could head out whenever we wanted. ⚠️ **Heads Up! (2 Cons/Challenges)** **Stairs – The Ultimate Boss (Top Floor Attic):** We happened to stay in the small attic room on the very top floor. While the natural light and space were cozy, we had to haul our large luggage all the way up to the 3rd floor (which in the UK feels like the 4th floor)! The stairs are numerous and narrow. If your luggage is too heavy, you'll seriously question your life choices. I highly recommend packing light if you stay here! **No Indoor Slippers Provided:** This hotel doesn't provide slippers (a common eco-friendly practice in old European hotels and B&Bs). If you're used to wearing slippers, remember to bring your own from Taiwan.

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the center of Reading. It's incredibly convenient, with shops, department stores, restaurants, cafes, and Reading train station all within walking distance. The hotel's decor is outstanding, and the facilities are brand new. The staff are very friendly and polite. However, a downside is that the hotel doesn't have a lift, and the staircases are quite narrow. If you have large luggage, it would be better to choose a room on a lower floor.

The front desk staff were excellent and helped me with my luggage. Since there's no elevator, they kindly gave me a room on the lower floor. The room was clean and quiet, with both air conditioning and a heater. All the essential amenities were provided. The hotel is centrally located, surrounded by restaurants and convenience stores, making it very easy to get around.
