voco Queenstown by IHG

We were on our honeymoon, and I specifically mentioned it to the front desk. However, even though there seemed to be plenty of available rooms, they didn't offer to upgrade us to a room with a view for free. That was quite disappointing. Usually, hotels give honeymooning couples a little surprise, but they didn't do anything for us.

The hotel used to be called Holiday Inn, but after rebranding to Voco, it feels like an upgrade, doesn't it? The hotel parking was insufficient, perhaps due to too many tourists. I had to find a parking spot on the street, luckily there were some right outside the entrance, and it was free for the two nights I stayed. The hotel is located on an uphill road, so if you walk to the lake for shopping, you'll have a short uphill walk back, which can be a bit tiring. The breakfast selection was limited; on the first day, the hot dishes were square hash browns and fried rice, and on the second day, they were round hash browns and fried noodles. Other items remained largely the same. I guess this is typical for a Western breakfast. The accommodation price was a bit high. I didn't realize this on my first visit, but if I come again, I might consider booking a regular motel, as some of those seem quite good too.

The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. You need to exchange coins to use the laundry room. The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop, making it very accessible. I highly recommend staying here. I think it's been rebranded as a Voco now.
