3 Star Hotels in Province of Catania

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. From start to finish the staff were extremely warm and welcoming, and any request, no matter how small, was met with and smile and a willingness to help. The feeling was of a family run establishment. The rooms, whilst a little basic, were functional and comfortable as we spent most of our time out and about. Breakfast, from a British perspective was a little limited in variety, but what there was, was plentiful and more than sufficient to start the day. We only ate an evening meal in the hotel once, because of our touring schedule, but what we had was really nice and freshly prepared. Our room had a distant view of the sea and over the strait to mainland Italy (on a clear day). On the short walk to the breakfast room we could turn and look at the view of Etna, which changed on a daily basis from under cloud to full sun and all in between, and we were even able to see the plume of smoke emitting from the active crater. The highlight of our stay was a flight by helicopter (Helisicily) over Etna, which took off from its helipad just 100 metres from the hotel, and was discounted as a hotel resident. The hotel was quiet, away from any roads, but suitably located for easy travel to places such as Catania and Taormina. I would definitely recommend and will return on a future visit to Sicily.

We spent a weekend at Villa Dorata, being fixed and affectionate customers for many years, and this year, unfortunately, our expectations remained disappointed as they were expected last year. We have seen a radical change in the structure and management of the system, since in the past, under the previous management, everything was indeed unperfect. Unfortunately, we can only see how much this hotel, which is located in a perfect place for every interest, is in decline. The boys who take care of them, though gentle, educated and available, are not at the height, because they are obviously little in the hotel profession: forgotten rooms, with infiltrating spots, wheels, powder on the furniture and bad bathrooms not working. Heating absent if not on request but often and willingly replaced by boxes for constant problems at the plant, sprays and very few services such as soap in bathrooms, shampoo and kits that are usually to be provided and we have them I had to ask for three times. These problems concern both the standard rooms and the superior/deluxe rooms. Poor and disappointing breakfast with clearly frozen cornets and crostate from many days before, as well as watered coffee. We remember with nostalgia the good times when breakfast was served with surprising quantities and quality! The cold breakfast room with a closed chamber and the boy's difficulty to do everything in managing every situation at the same time. The price-quality ratio is not in absolute balance. At the time of payment, the day of check out, we were even paying the minimum cents. We were always closed and at every entrance and exit we spent about 10 minutes to play to make our eyes, and we are really disappointed that a structure of this kind would really deserve much, but much more.

This place is absolutely mind blowing. It has all of the features of a one bedroom house. Beautiful large self contained unit, additional kitchen space for preparing full meals, private outdoor space and common space with bbq. The town is incredible, and I found the most spectacular Christmas shop I’ve ever seen in my life and all of my travels. My host was helpful, kind and the unit is fully modernised. There was nothing missed. I’ll be back next time I’m travelling through that way and will recommend it over an over!

This hotel is fantastic. It is very near to all of the major sites - the Bellini theatre is right behind it. We had a family room called Supernova which had a double 2 singles. The beds were very comfortable, we were able to ask for more pillows. The balcony had a view of Mount Etna. This was an extra safe feeling hotel, on arrival we rang the bell to be admitted through the gate and given the code to the lift, although there were stairs as well. The reception staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. They spoke great English. They recommended some tours of Etna and when we picked one, they then booked it for us. They also popped in and out of breakfast in the kitchen on the same floor as our room. Breakfast was great, loads of choice. We would definitely stay here again, it is great value, great location and great staff.

We stayed a week there. The plane was late and we were supposed to arrive at the hotel before 9pm. We arrive at 1am next day and the owner was kind enough to wake up to open the door. That was a nice start, thanks a lot for that ! Via Cruciferi is probably one of Catania's oldest streets, dating back to the Roman Empire. Today it is pedestrian, so very quiet, yet in the city center. Via Etnea is a couple of minutes away, the duomo a few minutes more. Excellent place really. The house... an old palazzo, to sure of the epoch. The bedroom ceiling is painted, just to make you happy when you wake up. Very large room, with a balcony, wardrobe, plenty of wall plugs to charge mobiles, computers etc. Even a large table in the center of the room for card players :-) The breakfast, excellent, expresso, cappuccino... various kinds of cheese, bread, home made marmalade, hams, fresh orange juice,... that's just what we ate. The lady knows her city and is willing to help. Which places are worth seeing, which guides to go to walk on the Etna (that was an experience), what are the good, real Sicilian restaurants around etc. Excellent week, and this place was part of it. The service staff are very kind, enthusiastic and help solve various problems! Since the flight arrives in the middle of the night, contact the hotel to book the pick-up beforehand, and the room will be reserved until midnight. The driver who picked up the airport was also very kind. Even in the cold midnight, I felt that the driver warmly welcomed you and assisted in getting on and off the luggage! Hotel location is located in the city center, restaurants, department stores are nearby, walking distance! I was very surprised to find that the Christmas market was right next to the hotel. I was very happy. The mood becomes more beautiful! Will visit again next time
