Splash Beach Resort Maikhao Phuket

A magnificent hotel with beautiful grounds, good rooms, and staff that are beyond excellent 🤗. I especially want to commend Danai, May, and Fon. I stayed for 4 days, wanting to spend time specifically in this location. The breakfasts were fantastic, with a huge variety of dishes and cuisines. There's a good gym that even offers group yoga and Muay Thai classes. The pool by the beach is clean, and there's always a lifeguard on duty. The grounds offer plenty of pleasant activities (table tennis, darts, badminton, chess, ping-pong, mini-football, etc.), and the animators constantly engage with the children. The constantly taking off planes aren't bothersome, and you can't hear them at night. There's a spa center and a small shop on site. Near the hotel, you'll find various restaurants, and a Muay Thai gym isn't far. Electric golf carts circulate around the property.

The only downside was the not-so-clean bathroom; everything else was great. The service was excellent, and the staff were very polite. The location is convenient, close to the airport. It's easy to walk out for food, massages, cheap eats, and there's a 7-Eleven nearby – all very convenient. The golf carts were also very comfortable and the shuttle service was fast, efficient, and excellent. We mainly stayed at the resort to swim, sunbathe, go to the beach, and watch the sunset – it was superb.

We booked two Deluxe Rooms (two queen-size beds, with balcony) in February, and in June, we found out the water park was under renovation. We were told there would be extra pools, slides, trampolines, etc., for kids. I had booked for two days before our flight to be closer to the airport, so I didn't cancel the reservation. Plus, I wanted to see the planes take off and land. What I didn't like: The closed water park, constant renovations, fences everywhere, and the noise of drills. The additional facilities for kids didn't compensate for why we booked it in the first place for our 12 and 13-year-olds; they wanted a water park, not an inflatable trampoline for toddlers. The beach was dirty; at least they could have cleaned the trash from the hotel's section of the shore. In the balcony room, it was unbearable to sleep because the balcony door didn't close tightly. Consequently, the noise from the planes taking off made it impossible to sleep, even on the 7th floor of building 9. MINUS: The climate control panel was by the door. In another hotel we stayed at before this one, it was by the bed, so at night, I could turn the AC and lights on and off by feel. PLUSES: Because the water park was closed, upon our request, they upgraded our room category and gave us a large room in building 1. So, we spent our second night there as a family. It had two AC units and a lot of space. The breakfast was good, with plenty of variety! The area was CLEAN and well-maintained, but it didn't have that 'wow' factor. You can't swim at the beach. You have to walk about 2 km towards the 'coral graveyard,' where you can snorkel and see fish, but bottles and trash will accompany you the whole way. Overall, this hotel didn't impress us. Its main advantage is being 20 minutes from the airport.

Located near the airport, which can be seen as both a pro and a con. The pros: you save time on travel. It's beachfront, with good sea and beach during high season. The grounds are constantly cleaned, plants are trimmed, and everything is tidied and watered. The staff are friendly and do everything to ensure your comfort. My stay was during the low season, but the staff's meticulous care for the grounds and the high level of service were evident, which was a pleasant surprise. The area is large and green. The room is nice and spacious, with all necessities provided. There are many children's activities on site, though not all of them were operating during the low season. Breakfasts are standard, nothing fancy. Nearby, there are cafes, massage parlors, and small shops. There are also cons. The direct proximity to the airport – the hotel grounds end and the airport begins. If you are sensitive to noise and seek relaxation and quiet, this is not the place for you. Planes are constantly taking off, and the noise from the jet engines is inescapable. There is a break at night and it becomes quiet, but not for long. They say you get used to it and stop noticing, but for me, 1.5 days was enough; I doubt I could stay longer. I'm giving it good stars because the downsides are purely my personal feeling and perspective.

Overall, it was a pleasant and satisfying stay, although there was a small incident that made me quite unhappy. Fortunately, the staff quickly corrected the mistake. I will share more details in a separate review.

The rooms are new and very clean. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant offers a wide variety of choices and excellent quality. The staff are attentive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic. The infinity pool right by the sea is absolutely stunning. The gym facilities are also great.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and this time I booked a pool villa. It was a shame I didn't realize the water park was closed at the time, so I missed out on using those facilities. However, I was very happy swimming in my room's pool, and the hotel's pool is right next to the beach. The breakfast selection was also very rich.
