My boyfriend and I stayed here for four nights, the room was clean and staff were very friendly. There was a fridge in the room, wifi throughout, pool on the top deck and a nice little balcony where you can smoke. Also really comfy pillows which is always a bonus when you've been staying in budget places for a while and haven't had comfort. Not a bad location and tuk tuks are waiting outside to take you where you want to go for cheap prices. Reception is manned 24/7 which is also nice to have in case of any problems. They have stopped providing breakfast ever since covid which is a shame. They also offer a laundry service but its much cheaper to take it two doors down where they only charge $1 per kg instead of price per item like this hotel does.

As I stepped out of the tuk tuk struggling with my carry on, a guard from the hotel hurriedly came up and took my carry on up the stairs, and then another young man opened the door to the beautiful spacious inviting lobby of the hotel : the young girls at the desk Oun Samnang and the Manager Ms. Seng quickly attended to my registration, while a cold welcoming drink and a moist hand towel was given to me to be refreshed from the hot ride to the hotel! I was asked if I wanted to know more about what was in the neighbourhood area that I would like to visit and I assented: important detail here: I was asked first which was quite perceptive since anyone coming in tired would be too tired to listen! I was quickly shown to my spacious room which was clean, cool and smelled heavenly! I was here for a staycation away from the bustle and hustle of the city with its loud construction sounds: - ALL staff very attentive: from the pool cleaner to the hotel maintenance cleaners: thank you - I had fresh fruit awaiting me when I went up to the room: there was glass bottle with water and a refill station downstairs if needed more: very environmentally conscious ! BRAVO for this! - the safety box gave me trouble and immediately the manager and staff came up and within minutes helped me - it was found out that somehow I was double booked from my online booking, and the manager who discovered it quickly pointed this out because she did not want me to be charged twice on my credit card: I was very impressed with her attention to detail ( I will not know yet how this will be solved since I booked online through Agoda) Breaking news: Manager Seng solved that for me and I was not charged! VERY GRATEFUL AND THANK YOU Manager Seng! - the French cafe Le Cafe at White Mansion>: cannot say enough about the staff there and the manager Ms.Sokunthy of that cafe: breakfast was delicious: coffee hot like I want and not warm as in other hotels: attention being given to even down to the bread knife for the baguette! Even if I just wanted great desserts and coffee, a place to work, I can always come to the cafe here on my day off! They graciously brought out my breakfast to the pool side area for me! - the room: amenities good: I like the idea of liquid soap rather than the little soaps given at other hotels! AND there is a blow dryer in the room! - I am an early riser: so happy that breakfast which was included began at 6:30 - at ‘turn down’ for the bed around 6, freshly baked delicious cookies were brought to the room! Cons: - it is an international hotel: so smoking is allowed everywhere: so a positive for smokers but a non-smoker who is allergic to cigarette smoke, I had to shorten my times at the pool because of this -

Location - Well placed in the city. From the pool and bar area you can see the independent monument and the tops of the palace complex. There are some distance views of the river as well. Easy to walk out from to the monument, palace and the river. Just be warned that if you walk you constantly get hassled by tuk tuk's looking for business. Crossing the road can be challenging as it is very busy. Rooms - Basic clean and all that you need in a hot country. The only downside is that it can be noisy due to the stone floor that echo's the sound of chairs being moved. Staff - Polite and speak good English. Big shout out to the petite young women (sorry don't know name) who served us breakfast and during the day, evening drinks - always had a big smile and very helpful. Food - Nice selection at breakfast of fruit and cereals, pastries. A selection of cooked breakfast representing many cultures (noodles, soup, western eggs etc). Lunch/Evening they had a good selection of small bites (burritos, veg and dips) and western and Asian dishes (steak, noodles, rice) Amenities - Good wifi signal throughout. Restaurant and bar clean and mixture of seating available. Pool table. Pool was gorgeous on the roof with great views. Big enough to have a little swim about. Seating can get crowded in the afternoon when people return from touring around. Recommend the hotel as we didn't find or have any negatives.

Nice hotel, run efficiently. Booked through a third party booking agent which didn't give a clear description. (I have taken this up with to agent) This is a business hotel, not suitable for families or romantic couples on a get away. Pool is only available to women for one hour from 11.45pm. Buffet breakfast available everyday expect Sunday where it is a fixed menu. Very limited on vegetarian, ok if you eat eggs. Also most options are Japenese foods.

I'm satisfied with everything about this hotel, and the room is big, but the breakfast may not be to my liking. Although the swimming pool on the top floor is not big, it is very outstanding. The location is also good,

More about Phnom Penh

Hotels in Phnom Penh

Weather, the best time to travel:

The lively, bustling city of Phnom Penh, once known as the ‘Pearl of Asia, is the capital of Cambodia. The lovely city is located at the confluence of the three rivers, Mekong, Bassac, and the Tonle Sap. The city has come a long way from its horrific past of the late 1970s and is now a thriving city. However, the influx is tourists itself, is in a large part due to its having a terrifying past, as well as because of its ancient architectural wonders like the impressive Royal Palace, museums, temples, and other structures.

Phnom Penh is located in the south of the country and is well served by the three rivers. It has an area of around 360 sq km and a huge population of around 17 million. It is covered by large tracts of rice fields and other vegetation plantations. The city has a warm and humid tropical climate. Tourists can visit the city at any time of the year, but the best time to visit is between November and April when there is very little rain.

Airport/nearby airport:

The Phnom Penh International Airport, PNH, the largest in the country, is located in the Pou Senchey area 10 km to the west of the city. This is the gateway for international travellers to the country.

A tourist has a few choices for getting to Phnom Penh from the airport. An airport taxi is the fastest mode and can take up to an hour or beyond to reach your hotel. Be prepared for some price haggling even though official prices are fixed. Private taxis charge more but are normally better ones. Tuk-Tuk is available at a far cheaper rate for getting to your hotel.

You can even take a moto, the back of a motorcycle, if you have very little luggage and at a far cheaper rate. However, the cheapest and the most convenient mode is the comfortable public transport bus which has been recently introduced.

Transportation:

Getting around Phnom Penh is mostly by the unique Tuk-Tuk, which is a covered three-wheeler. A few drivers can speak English which can be very helpful while moving around the city. An option for an independent mode of commute is to rent a motorcycle that is available on a daily, weekly, or even monthly rental basis.

Taxis are available for faster conveyance, and surprisingly, at times they might be cheaper than a Tuk-Tuk. Recently, the city has introduced public transport buses in a limited manner. These air-conditioned buses offer cheap and convenient travel.

How to get to Phnom Penh:

The Phnom Penh International Airport is connected to several destinations in China, Vietnam, Japan, Vietnam, Southeast Asian countries, and the Middle East, apart from within Cambodia itself. Jetstar Asia, Singapore Airlines, Cambodia Angkor Air, Vietnamese Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Philipinnes airlines, All Nippon, and several Chinese airlines operate from this airport.

Jetstar Asia is the major carrier from Singapore and the fare might be exorbitantly high for a flight at short notice due to very limited availability of flights. For a flight beyond 45 days, the fares might see a dramatic fall to around SGD 100 at the lowest for a direct flight with Jetstar Asia which takes around 2 hours 15 minutes. There normally are about 8 direct flights from Singapore to Phnom Penh every day.

Hotel info, prices for different hotel range:

Hotels in Phnom Penh are relatively cheaper compared to other major tourist destinations in the world. The super luxurious 5-star hotels in the city are priced at around SGD 275 per night. Some of your choices are Rosewood Phnom Penh, Mona la Residence, Raffles Hotel Le Royal, and Sofitel Phokeerthra.

The luxury 4-star hotels like Pasteur 51 Hotel and Residence, Palace Gate Hotel and Residence, Naki Suites, and Pavillion offer rooms at an average price of SGD 100 per night.

Several affordable 3-star and 2-star category Phnom Penh hotels are available for those on a tighter budget. They provide a friendly, high-quality service, a convenient, and safe stay. These cheap hotels in Phnom Penh are available at a price starting from a low SGD 35 per night.

Top Tourist Attractions in Phnom Penh:

We list out three out of the dozens of the most exciting and popular Phnom Penh attractions for your bucket list.

1.    The Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda

This is one of the top things to do in Phnom Penh. Some portions of this awesome royal palace are open to the public. The palace grounds house the Silver Pagoda and its magnificent silvery floor.  This palace landmark dominates the skyline of the city and is still home to the royal family.

2.   Cambodia National Museum

This is the largest museum in the country with more than 5000 artefacts, some dating back to the ancient Angkorian era. It represents collections related to the Hindu and Buddhist cultural and religious traditions and very informative. The compound has an attractive garden and a beautiful terracotta pavilion.

3.   Choeung Ek Genocide Center

So much has been heard about the mass genocide indulged in by the pol pot regime that a visit to this centre can bring the reality of these horrors close to us. This is a memorial to the victims of the infamous killing fields and other areas. Beware that the sight of the around 5000 skulls from the actual killing fields in a glass case might horrify the faint-hearted.
