This is located in the northeast section of the Philadelphia area. I chose this hotel because it’s near my friends home, but in reality is probably a horrible location if you want to see Philadelphia. I saw a very little public transportation (basically none)—either you have a car or you’d have to rent one and it’s quite a distance into the city and historic districts. if you’re not used to Philadelphia roadways and traffic patterns, it’s quite a challenge.
The hotel is definitely no-frills. I don’t know if there was an exercise room or not— it certainly was not brought to my attention. The room is sparse and cheaply furnished. I think they spent the room budget on a very elaborate bathroom mirror that would let you Bluetooth connect and play music from, which seems succeeding ridiculous.
The bed was soft as a cloud, which I really hate. Originally all the pillows in my room were the same— basically two pieces of fabric with nothing in between. I mentioned this to the housekeeper in the hallway and I think she replaced some. t wasn’t so bad on my subsequent nights.
There’s a nice lounge area and a friendly bartender, but be sure to bring cash as they couldn’t take cards.
I discovered the lounge as I was escaping my room after a fire in an adjacent room, and worse, there were people outside that needed to barbecue every night and use an entire can of lighter fluid to like the charcoal. All I smell for hours was chemical at the second night. I had to escape the smell and went to the bar. On the way, I passed the front desk and said, by the way this is going on in the parking lot yet again, and apparently she went out and told them to stop. On the third night, since they just had to barbecue, they moved the grill 20 feet further away onto the other side of the alleyway/parking area. It was better, but come on, it’s not a motor court motel.
I think I’d be hard-pressed to stay there again.
