With some mixed feelings, I'm writing this review... We stayed for 4 days in The Old Success Inn and let me start with the positive elements: the location of the place is absolutely stunning. We also booked one of the most beautiful rooms (nr 12) which has a great view over the bay. All comfort available, great beds, plenty of space (a smaller remark is the dripping bathroom faucet...). Very satisfied with the housekeeping and very clean. One remark however: the door closer systems need proper adjustment; it sounds like everyone is slamming the door (even unintended). I believe there is lots of improvement on the management -side of this place: in one word: chaos ! Upon arrival, our room-key was missing, our restaurant reservation was forgotten,... There also seems a chronic understaffing during restaurant/breakfast service time: it takes ages before getting served, wrong things are brought, buffet does not get replenished, cutlery missing,... We also refrained for further dinners as the smell in the pub-part of the place is really not appetizing (best comparable to rancid beer, hot dishwasher,...: this place need a deep cleaning and/or checkup. One other suggestion: make an arrangement with the community about parking costs: 9 P/night is too expensive.

The entire hotel has only a ”new start” and a newly built hut ”Penwith” with only ”4 rooms” can live in, all the rooms in the main hotel are very shabby and more hotel than a hotel. The 16-square-meter ”Penwith 4” room type I stayed in is already the second highest-level room type in this hotel, and I have to try my luck... I can't choose 1, 2, 3 or 4 when booking. To summarize: room types 1 and 2 are on the first floor, room types 3 and 4 need to go up through a very narrow corridor, which is very inconvenient to carry large luggage; the bed is very soft and there are a lot of hair on the floor. Cobwebs, the bathroom area is about 6 square meters, ”compared to” the feeling of the guest room... it's quite spacious. Breakfast is the most common English breakfast...no surprises, and nothing special. Because it is a guest... so parking is free. Because it is near the sea, the wind is particularly strong. There is nothing worth spending time around. Unless you are visiting the small town of Penzance 10 miles away, the recommended stay for two nights is the limit. Living in this place does not have the term ”enjoy”, it is just for ”staying down”, and the price is low!

1. The hotel is on a small slope on the edge of Penzance City. It takes only 20 minutes to walk to the city center. In fact, it is very convenient for travel. It is also very close to Penzance Railway Station and the port. It takes 15 minutes to drive to see Mount Saint Michel.
2. The hotel provides a lot of snacks, the sea view room has an excellent view and is worth recommending. If you want hot food for breakfast, you need to charge a little extra, and the quality of other meals is also good.
3. If you come by car, you need to call the hotel to book a parking space, about 4.5 pounds a day parking fee.
4. The hotel's cancellation policy is to cancel 14 days in advance.
5. The corridor of the hotel is relatively narrow and there is no elevator, and it may not be convenient to have too much luggage.

Me and my partner Jenna got married here then stayed the night and it was a fantastic day/experience. We had around 60 guests with more coming in the evening and everything went perfectly no thanks to Harriet and the main man Stefan ! Im not sure if these guys work every wedding but you need to ask for them as they were brilliant. Always had a drink in our hands, guiding us from here to there making sure we were on time, and anything we needed we just had to ask and 30 seconds later it was done. They really helped make our day special. The hotel itself was also great, really well looked after grounds against a stunning backdrop of St Ives, and very tidy inside. We have absolutely no complaints at all with the hotel or staff, if we were to get married again, we would pick Tregenna in a heartbeat. Also a special thank you to the security man on the gate, great guy and he drove my disabled mum around in a golf buggy all day and made her feel like the queen.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and I loved waking up to the beautiful sea view in the morning. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety of options. While it's not right in the center of town, the bus stop is just a few minutes away, making it very convenient to get around.

Outstanding hotel. From start to finish. Staff were friendly and welcoming which after a long journey is the most important. The room was cleaned and well equipped to support your stay. They also supported us when our clothes were wet from the previous day. Food was a highlight here too. Everything was delicious. I’d recommend a visit here. It’s a must as it’s close to Penzance but quiet at the same time. You’ll need a car to drive here.

TTrek30222817373The Ship Inn is a long established pub full of character with a welcoming and friendly staff. It has a great atmosphere with good food and high quality accommodation. If mixing with the locals is your thing - then this is the place for you. It looks out on Mousehole harbour and is ideally placed to soak up the atmosphere of this famous fishing village. A pub steeped in history.

Very Good
We only saw the owner the last morning to pay. I had received a message before we arrived, with the instructions and the number of our room. The keys of our room were left on the door and the main door was left open all the time. We don't particularly like this system, but I found this quite often around the UK and Scotland. Also, the owner was always reachable over the phone and everything we requested was done and provided. Our room was big. Breakfast was self service in the room so they provided fresh fruits, milk, yoghurt, orange juice, eggs, bread, jam, butter, tea and coffee every morning. We had a microwave, cutlery, glasses, cups and plates. The negative aspects for us were: - smelly entrance. The carpet looked very old and, together with the smell did not give a good impression - our room was big but too full of stuff. There were blankets and bed nets under the beds and all sorts of paintings, mirrors and bedside tables. It felt too full of things. There was no attention to details in terms of furniture. Mattresses were different in different beds and not great to sleep (however this may be just personal taste). - too much light in our room as the light on the corridor was constantly on and there was a big window on top of the door so it was very bright in the room. Overall, it is a good average solution if you have to stop in Penzance as it is basically on the promenade and only 10 minutes walking from the city centre.

高高The room design is very special and the accommodation is very comfortable. The attic room is hot during the day when it is sunny. The hotel does not include breakfast, but there is a restaurant downstairs, which tastes very good. There are some specialty shops near the hotel, which are worth visiting. Most of Penzance's accommodations are on the hillside, not far from the hotel from the train station, but it is tiring to climb the slope with luggage. To all major attractions is to take a car from the railway station. There are several Chinese restaurants on the market steet, which taste pretty good.
